    Dead lift hell

I could possible have the world's worst posture when doing these..

For the life of me I cannot stick my ass out and keep my back straight..the next day I feel like someone ran a knife across my lower back.

Any tips? Trying to mix up my back sets

Can you maintain a neutral back position with a lighter weight?

not really, my posture for some weird reason is really bad..

I couldn't even tell you if i could keep a neutral position because I don't know what one feels like... Also my boy told me to invert one hand, so i will have one hand gripped overhand and the other under. Said it could help my posture... Tried today with real light weight just to practice but still felt tense on my lower back. I believe I'm rounding my back even though I trying my hardest not too.

Maybe I should just stay away from this completey...

When I stated deadlifts I had horrible form. I was tweaking my back bad. Then I got to a place in the gym that had a mirror in front and the side so i could look at my form. Then I started out light with the best form and did a lot of sets so it became ingrained in me. Then I moved up the weight. My form stayed perfect. Took time though. I use the over/under grip too b/c I dont use straps.
Get form down and don't get rid of deads, your back will never forgive you, they are the best.

It sounds like you have a weak posterior chain. I would pay attention to strengthening this and you should be able to incorporate the deadlift when you are stronger.

Check out articles by strength coach John Davies. He plays close attention to posterior chain exercises and will make you more explosive...like a strike by Wandy .

    Here is the site:

    http : // www . t - nation . com / ALS Author . do ? p = John % 20 Davies & page No = 1

Sorry about spacing it out or this would have happened: http://www.*************/ALSAuthor.d...avies&pageNo=1. Type it in the address bar and leave the spaces out.

Feel free to ask me any questions on his renegade style.

ok, u just gave me a second wind.. I won't give up on them even though my back is screaming at me to do so. I will lower the weight and practically kiss the mirror when doing these.. I'm gonna fight for that corner mirror spot in my gym now..

Everytime i kiss the mirror i am kissing the hottest human being on the planet. But seriously deads are the best my back has grown so much more since I started incorporating them. Row and chin also and you will put on tons of mass.
    Watch that form.

I practiced sumo today, the only problem with that is my knee tend to bend outward instead of straight ahead. I'm short so maybe that has something to do with it... Anyhow, thanks for the link and advice.

i don't know if you do this but i keep my head and neck straight and look up when i do then not moving my chin at all. it may sound weird but it messes with my balance, but not negatively and i stand straight up with great posture, takes some time to get used to it, but ive got it down now. my lower back used to be so sore, now im not getting sore...i'm getting Swole (i like that, yeah)

Careful, make sure you get the form down first. You could get some nasty lower back pain if you aren't careful. Practice without weight, that really helped me. For football we had to practice without weight for like an entire week and by that time everyone had it down permanently.
