It’s sad that it takes something like this to put things into perspective.

My best friend lost his wife this weekend.

She was fine on Thursday morning when she left for work, and then by afternoon, he was called to the hospital to find her in a coma, and them giving her a 50 / 50 chance of living.

On Friday night her brain began to swell and did even more damage. Saturday they did a lot of tests and finally pronounced her brain dead.

I was there with my friend all day Saturday and Sunday, he is an absolute wreck, he walks through the house picking up his wife’s belongings and crying, it is awful.

Went with him to make all of the funeral arrangements, choosing the casket, the ceremony etc.

They have a 2 year old girl, and to watch her ask for her mother tore out my heart.

I haven’t cried that much in quite a while.

We think the trivial issues of day to day live are so important and so worth fighting over.

It’s sad that it takes such an event to set us straight, so we remember what is truly important.

Do me a favor guys, let’s all calm down.

    Thanks

Wow.....that is terrible bigen I'm sorry to hear that. Do they know what caused it? I couldnt even fathom something like that. Things here leaves just a little suprised. it does not affect me when I walk away from this computer. What affects me is stories like those where you can lose someone in a blink of an eye. It's terrible for your friend and I hope he can pull himself together for their daughter. I really wish him the best.

She was eating lunch, they aren't sure of the order, but they do know she had a seizure, threw-up and aspirated some of the food, and during all of that her heart stopped.

When the paramedics got there, they started the Heimlich Maneuver thinking she was choking, by the time they realized that wasn't the problem they started CPR but it was too late.

So, sad. Prayers go out to them. Did she have a history of seizures?

i wish the family the best, sometimes as much as we question why things happen in life we have to understand usually there is no real reason, people die just like leaves wither and plumet to the ground during autumn, or like the sun decides to shine somedays and other days its nowhere to be found. Just those little things that make us human that we need to learn how to accept and not make us suffer trying to control things that are out of our power. Ill say a prayer for them.

Wow, really a horrible story. It's so true that is takes a tragedy until we realize what we have lost, and how much it meant to us. I agree with bigen12, lets all cool it.

Man, that just made me feel absolutely terrible. I was imagining everything and that's just out of my realm of comprehension right now.

I hope your friend gets through all of this as painlessly as possible, because something like this is honestly pure hell to have to go through.

I feel you and i am sorry for the loss, we had to do this on Thanksgiving Day when my Mom died. Her stuff was laying around like that, clothes laid out for a bath etc... it was awful.

Got back from the funeral last night, everything went as well as can be expected. Over 700 people came to the viewing, it took over 4 hours.

My friend is having a hard time of it, and is very tempted by alcohol. He’s not sure if he’s going to turn to the bottle or not.

I told him last night to think of the past couple of days.

He had told me that he can’t see her at the hospital. Then he did.

Then that he can’t go with the family to make the arrangements, Then he did.

Then that he can’t go to the family viewing, Then he did.

Then that he can’t stand in the receiving line at the viewing, Then he did.

Then that he can’t go to the grave side service. Then he did.

Now he thinks he can’t give up the bottle.

I told him that the best thing for him to do is to continue doing these things that he can’t do.

I am truly sorry bro my heart goes out to him and his daughter
And his family’s. It is really hard to comprehend or even Acknowledge what has transpired in that short time frame but he must be strong for there little girl and him self. But what hurts us what loses we have experiences brings us light.

We all must remember that our own greed is not that important in our daily lives but the ones we love.

God bless you and your friends family in my prayers brother
