its a bit long winded init?

i have heard that consuming high GI carbs is not beneficial during exercise unless it is a very long session (2hrs +) or perhaps during a haevy leg day

mind u i am bulking right now and its getting tough to add more cals so a drink such as this during exercise could do the job

    lets see what others say

MO, it might replenish some glycogen stores, maybe, but it would take blood away from your muscles and into digestion. and sugars will hinder the GH dump that we look for in a good training day. so i wouldn't mid workout shake. but i think we all understand the importance of PWO. preworkout is up in the air. i feel at best when i eat some oats and chicken before a workout. however i have gone the pro/fat route and it still felt ok. i just feel amped more with carbs instead of fats.

    this sounds interesting

However, during exercise muscle blood flow increases by almost 150%. When a carbohydrate and amino acid drink is taken pre/during the workout, the blood flow during the workout increases by about 350%. This is a very powerful effect since there's significantly more blood going to the muscle and this blood is packed with anabolic nutrients!

This i do agree with, though I must say at least Berardi has the Bodybuilder and Athlete in mind. Of course I know we have a lot of knowledgable people here as well, but I know I have never run any studies or read as many research articles as some of the experts out there.

Water during my workouts. I'm not in there over an hour anyhow.

Get in, get swole/busy, get the f*ck out.

    Works for me.

Yah but... this area is fairly agreed upon by many of those that focus on strength athletes, etc. I would agree completely with what John B is saying in this area.

I was pondering the idea of skipping my pw meal, and starting my shake of dext and whey about 1/2 into my training session......so my schedule would go:

    6:30
1/2 cup oats, 1/4 cup steel cut, cup of skim, 1 cup egg whites, handfull of berries and splenda

    9:30
tub of dry curd cottage cheese, sf jello, 10-15 almonds/peanuts, half a protein bar

    12:30
6oz yam, 6 oz beef, huge salad, sf jello, half a protein bar

    4:45
    TRAIN w/ shake

    6:30
    meal carbs/pro

845 (laying down watching the tube)
casein shake, half a protein bar, skim, egg whites, 10-15 peanuts

    900 BED
