    Controversial topic about cardio!!!

Hi guys, It seems that in the bodybulding world, cardio in the A.M is a must, but i would like to make a few points!!!
I have been a triathlete for at least 10 years, and three years ago, i got tired of looking like a 16 year old boy, fit, but skinny!!
Since then, i started bulking up and now i got a decent body.
then, i did a eight week cutting, and my former trainer told me something, must people don´t know.
Each and everyone of us has a unique heart hate to any gold we want.
Exercice fisiologists use the BLOOD LACTATE TEST to find our ideal heart rate
So, i did te test and i found what my fat burn rate would be!!
In this 8 week cutter, i did the first month using the A.M cardio and the second month i did cardio in the evening a few hours after my pro/carb meal, but both in my fat burn heart rate.
Every week i did a body fat percentage test, and both in the A.M and the evening cardio, i lost the same amount of fat per week, about 800 to 1000 grams of fat, both keeping the muscle loss to extreme minimal!!
So, my point is A.M cardio really burns fat, but is not the only one, it´s all about your unique fat burn heart rate!!!

I have my clients stay in the 60-70% MHR range for cardio, and the fat loss is phenomenal. Heart-rate is key in using fat for fuel.

Exactly, and that´s the ideal fat burn rate, and when i did my Lactate test, my fat burn rate was very close to that, i just needed a more precise number.
My point was that if you are in the ideal heart hate for yourself, A.M cardio is very precise, BUT I achieved the same results doing the cardio another part of the day and not glycogen depleted!!

P.S-> Big fan of your work Swole!!

Exactly what I've been debating over on this board forever. AM cardio=over rated bullshit. Actually, I like to do my cardio right after I train which everybody says is a no-no, yet they post their diet pics and just arent quite as shredded as they should be, and look like they've lost alot of muscle.

To each his own, just find what works for you.

That is what I've resorted to saying on all message boards when you see arguments for all kinds of cardio/times/etc. Just find what works for you and you're set.

No point in trying to "prove" a stance anymore, I'm years past that. Too bad it took me that long to smarten up, I'd have saved a LOT of keystrokes!

You guys (SwoleCat & stayinstacked) are right and I do my cardio after training as well, just like stayinstacked. But when I'm trying to get ripped, I split my training. Doing cardio in the morning because I feel it jump starts my metabolism and helps keep it up throughout the day. So I'd recommend doing cardio in the morning because of this, but of course you have to find out what works best for you.

OK, so reading this makes me realise that I need a heart rate monitor, I just ran a google search and it threw up a huge range of types and prices, do I need anything more than a basic one?
Any hints / tips on what features etc I need it to have?
    Thanks guys!

I also bought the cheapest polar one. Its great for heart rate, but you have to guess a little bit how long you've been training, it puts up a little picture every 10 mins, so when I'm cycling and concentrating on where I'm going and I look down and it has 3 pics up I don't know if I've done 31 mins or 39 mins or anything inbetween.

    Apart from that it's great.

I no longer answer questions on the 'why' tho.

Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics.
