From what I understand. You can only gain 5lb of muscle a year? Natural that is. correct or incorrect? an owner of a major international supplement company told me this at the gym.

5lbs is a bit low IMO. I've gained around 8-10lbs mostly LBM since I started at 17. Depends on diet/training/rest.
aim to gain 1-2lbs a week, half will be lean muscle......
Impossible to make a statement like that. Some can become tremendously muscular naturaly while others have to bust as just to look like they lift.Originally Posted by jsimon
Also depend on how long a dude has been working out.
If you have been at it seriously for 10-15 years 5ibs can be hard for a juicer while a first year bodybuilder might naturaly add much more than that.
In a year......got to be in the uowards of 30lbs lean on a good diet and training routine.
30 ibs of lean muscle in a year would be a tremendous gain for a hardcore juicer.
Agreed. 30lbs is not easy unless you took a long break or just started training.
Prob right.....sucks that it's faily easy to DROP 30lbs in 1/4 the time but building it takes so much longer. I may be on a life long bulk...Originally Posted by IBdmfkr
IBD - how is you cyle bulk going?
10 pounds of pure muscle a year minimal for a bro your age, jsimon. just gotta keep shocking that body into growth, eating, and resting.

Also, if muscle was so easily attained, then we wouldn't really stand out much would we![]()
this is wrong on alot of levels.aim to gain 1-2lbs a week, half will be lean muscle......
???? Your goal during a lean bulk should most def. be 1-2lbs ew or eow...plain and simple. Any more and it's fat...just a BASIC rule of thumb, not engraved......Originally Posted by timtim
well as a natural i would say probably between 5-15lbs depending on genetics, diet and stage of development.
alright sounds good
i understand your point but the logic behind gain 2 pounds, 1 will be muscle would require a perfect diet which is structured to maintain the .5 lbs gain every week or whatever that would be. and in a perfect world, the 1 pound of muscle would require fat to be gained with it. minimal fat gain and maximal muscle gain CAN occur but not nearly at a rate of 1 to 2 pounds a week. muscle fibers do not grow that fast and again, with every bit of muscle comes fat and water gain. there will be no consistent muscle growth throughout the duration of this growth phase. at one point in time the caloric surplus will lead to more fat than muscle gain.???? i used to believe in the 1 to 1 ratio of fat to muscle gain but it is way more advanced than that. i would also be concerned if i was training naturally and gaining 2 pounds a week. on cycle, different story but even then i dont want 2 pounds a week, too much water.
you can gain more than that IMO...Originally Posted by jsimon
