    Stomach Volume

I know eating more expands the stomach, and as time goes on you can eat more food. Are there any exercises to expand the stomach? I heard of eating a lot of lettuce and drinking a lot of water. Any thoughts?

ok..i know some about this cus both my rents had surgery when i was growing up to loose weight. Your normal day to day person doesn't really expand there stomach... it's more like unfolding it, like an acordian...however...obesity is another thing...both my parents had the surgery where they make there stomach's equal to the size of a lemon roughly. Now after constant over eating (and making themselves sick)... 15 years later they eat like a normal person... which means they have stretched the stomach pouch skin. Ok... so anyway...what i am saying... is expanding it only happens from constand over eating and really isn't a good thing to wear the stomach lining thin by stretching it

btw... if that doesn't make since...it's late sorry

WHY do you want to expand the stomach??

Its not the size of the stomach that decides when you feel satisfied. If you want to be able to eat more just eat every other hour no matter if you are hungry or not. After a few months it becomes a habit.

Good question. Expand stomach for what?
The hypothalamus governs satiety (fullness), and uses three primary sensors.
    1. Mouth - amount of chewing
    2. Throat - amount of swallowing (differentiated from say gum chewing)
    3. Stomach - volume and space displacement.

Thus to diet, chew gum, swallow water, eat fiber.

To gain, as johan said, eat more often. And increase you consumption of good caloric foods like peanut butter.
