Bought laptop from homie ....need help !

I bought a laptop from a crack head for a crack head price .It was running windows xp professional but couldnt get in cause had a password . So I swiped everything in the drive and installed windows xp service pack 1 .The problem now is some of the devices aren't working properly .I bought an resource cd for dell latitude D600 .I loaded the cd but still couple devices not working properly .Under other devices :ethernet controller and network controller says its not installed .Any suggestions ?

try manually loading network drivers
or ethernet controller software
click start,settings,control panel,system,hardware device manager,
look for network adapters,expand
should be a yellow ? mark for this adapter ::note type of adapter::
click on adapter and open driver tab try install new drivers or update have your xp disc ready.
will be prompted to let windows search or do you have disc
try have disc and point to cdrom
you may need to browse the cd.
file extension should be .inf
pretty common adapters they should be on the xp disc

hop on another PC, look up the laptop model on the manufacturers site, download drivers, transfer to 3.5'' disk, load on laptop. Problem solved

purplelaceteddy thanks for the advice but still not working properly .Any other way .It says The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) Money is tight right now dont want to pay I seem to have all the stuff but wont load .

D600 should still be in warranty. hmmm, nothing loads. id say manually add them like purple mentioined...go to Dells website and download all the drivers for that model, and burn them on a Cd, then open up Cd in laptop and install away...thats ur best bet.

u still need NIC drivers to detect windows update. Win Version im sure is very old and plus not a fact. install.

lol ....same here bro didnt know they had those till I erased everything .You could find anything online .aspengc8 ,Latino~Heat I'll try this but I dont want them tracking back on my pc .Thanks for all the help will let you know if it went through .
