define: running...do you jog for cardio?...I wouldnt recommend that...

As a quick answer I would say rest if you are aching...

oh okay...I dont know much about army conditioning...I would guess that you have to work through pain associated with runnning/marching though...

but its all about baby steps

while in pain or sore, listen to your body and rest until you build up your endurance

    Hi

Well in the US Army at my age it is 2 miles in 15 minutes but a mile and a half in 9 minutes is really cruising........You probablly have stress fractures in your arches or shin splints??? Make sure you got the right shoes.....Running shoes not cross training shoes......Also make sure when your running that your heel is hitting the ground first then rolling up to the palms of your feet and your toes...All through basic training i had to run through the pain but after basic i rested and the stress fractures went away....so suck it up. Depending on when you go into the Army will depend on if you have the time to rest or not.......But if your countries army is anything like the US Army once you get in you gotta "Drink water and Drive on soldier." Good luck bro.

If your body is signaling pain then you might consider backing off. Perhaps you need better shoes or some orthotics. I use to get shin splints to the point where walking was painful, but I got some orthotics and they went away very fast. Try using the precor or cross trainer, as these machines are designed, so there's less impact. You can get your conditioning up on these machines and then do your run to see where you are at. Best of luck to you soldier!
