    Basic Nutrition Theory Questions...

OK, there is a massive amount of info. here but one small problem...all the info. assumes that the basics are known. My question is this: What is (are)the most important factor(s) with regards to protein/fat/carb intake as a beginner??? Do I eat more protein than carbs?? How much fat can I eat and do i measure the fat from calories or from total fat content?? Which fruits and veggies are the best?? Some (I have read) are too high in glycemic levels, so why is that bad??? And do I avoid high glycemic fruits except for PWO?? I am confused and I am sorry for looking like a douche!! Any help would be great!!!

    Thanks!!

    C

Well first it matters on your body size, and more importantly what you want to do with a diet..., and what has worked in the past...
when i cut i lower carbs and up fats, but when i'm bulking I up the carbs to about equal with protein and lower the fat...

As Nova stated above your diet is going to depend upon on what your trying to do with your body. Bulk or cut. I'd say that green vegtables are the best to eat such as spinach, green beans. Try to consume good foods like chicken breats, tuna, eggs, oats, potatos, sweet potatos, rice etc... Keep in mind that fats are important as well but stick to healthy fats flaxseed, natty pb, olive oil, things of that nature. Also try not to mix carb and fats PWO. I guess that is just a general explanation. Sorry if any was confusing bro.

I am definitely looking to trim a good 15-20 lbs. of fat. According to many sources, my ideal weight is 205-210. Currently I am 230 lbs. I am 6'5". I would like to get my BF% down to 10-12%. BTW, what is a good way to measure my BF%?? After I lose the fat, I will begin to increase carbs to bulk up.

I plan on doing more cardio than weights for the first 3 weeks-6 weeks

I am pretty sure the stickys address things like mixing carbs and fats and the ratios you will need to start off with depending on what your doing and who you are. It also explains GI's and when in doubt there are tons of websites dealing with GI. Check ALL the diet stickys and your questions will be answered.

a common misconception is that you need to lower fat intake on a cutting kind of diet, this couldn't be further from the truth good fats such as (flax oil, fish oil, olive oil, and poly & monounsaturated fats) should be staples of a good cutting diet,... not necessarily all of them, but they are some main ones to consider...
