Are PPWO carbs neccessary when cutting??

Hey all, I am new here but have been reading these forums religiously for a couple years just never made up a name to post a thread. I admire and trust all of your advice since it has worked for me ever since I found this site 2 years ago. Anyway, so are PPWO carbs necessary? I am cutting and going on vacation to the dominican republic in may so I want to maintain as much muscle as possible. I have my carbs in the morning (half cup oats) and PWO(80grms dextrose). Do I need more to support my muscle? Thanks

    Hey dude

Yeah it's slow here during the day - specially a friday.

Uhm i had the same question as this, well similar anyway. I talked to a few people and apparantly while cutting, ppwo carbs aren't very important. You shoudl get 15% of your daily caloric intake from carbs, some pre workout to give you energy and the rest in yoru pwo shake. Thats it.

For me, I have 3/4 cup (uncooked) oats pre workoutu (like 1 hour before) then 60g carbocomplex (pure carbs) post workout.

thats it for me, hope i helped.

If you are eating carbs before and after your work out, the PPWO becomes less important.

i would make sure that you don't consume your fats toooo close to your PWO shake due to combing the simple sugars and the fats... i would wait an hour, but yeah after your PWO you could have your pro/fat meal...

dont cut out pwo carbs even when cutting. dont worry even if yo have these meals at night your not gonna get fat. they are absolutely necessary. take a look at all these atkins people who shoot for zero carbs. they get smaller but their bodyfat stays the same( skinny fat people). thats cause they are destroying muscle tissue. when im cuttin i have my pwo and then 1.5 hr. late ihave my second pwo and its 2 hours before i go to bed. my last run with my cuttin diet i dropped 10% bodyfat and actually gained like 3 or so lbs. of lean mass. dont buy into those saying no to eat both pwos. you certainly don want a pro/fat meal 1.5 hr. afte your first pwo because your blood sugar is elevated and you will end up storing fat. have the second pwo because your blood sugar is already elevated, your not going to elevate it any further.

So what your saying JDH is that 1.5 hours after my whey and dex shake have pro/carbs again (slow burning like oats or brown rice)? when do you suggest the pro/fat meal? maybe before bed have some natty pb?

I go with a protein/flax shake before bed, which comes after my PPWO meal. Seems to be doing OK.

the protein will be quickly digested and the flax, being a liquid also, won't slow down the absorption much... i would go with whole foods before bed IMO...

While I was cutting down I had carbs inculded into my PPWO meal. I would eat some kind of solid source though like rice, oats, sweet potatos.

im not sure when you work out in relation to bed time. i have my 2nd pwo roughly 2 hours before i go to bed. thats it. my last meal of the day. and as far as type of carbs for 2nd pwo it really don matter if they are high or low gi because your blood sugar is already elevated. just dont eat fat or alot of fiber with them.

this confuses me alittle. why is liquid fat digested any quicker than whole fat? it still needs to be metabolized and fats are fats, their structure doesnt change in either form. could you elaborate alittle more on this. thanks.

i'm just stating that for the long haul of sleep, the oil won't help slow the digestion of the protein hardly...

When I am at my lowest in carbs I skip carbs ppwo. I dont know if it made me lose mass, but it never effected my strenght negativly.
