    open for suggestions...............

I'm 260 pounds 34 years old and 5'10", I'm checking all these diets out and I'm confused. I want to get down around 210-220 and I want lean mass. I don't want to be overly bulky. I haven't work out in years and I'm not familiar with all the terminology and the meaning to all the different types of foods like the egg whites deal and oils.
So any diet suggestions I'm open to them.

I can give u some 101 in food.

Things u should stay away from: sugar, fast carbs, white bread, white rice, anything with high sugar. only time sugar is good for u is in the mornin to get ur blood sugar up and after a work out.

things u need to start using: wheat bread, slow carbs, pasta, "good" fats like olive oil (i use that for cooking food), eat a lot of protein (makes u full and doesnt make u fat), fruits (high on vitamins and anti-oxidants), salmon (good fats and very healthy).

Stay away from juices and sodas, they're basically full of sugars. drink a lot of water, at least a gallon a day (a lot of bathroom stops i know).

Start workin out, do cardio everyday with ur training.

There is also a search function u can use. its very helpfull, try it.

    good luck

I disagree...in the morning its good to take in either protein with fat(olive oil) or protein with slow burning carbs(with high fiber) oatmeal is a good breakfast

There are sugar free and diet drinks that are okay at certain times

As far as I can see I concur with the rest of what was posted

New2: I think you should have a look at the "sticky" at the top of this forum and choose the appropriate one for you(bulking/cutting)...Post an example of what your willing to eat with the sticky being an example...then we can help you from there on anything your confused about

You should have explained yourself in your original post then...remember he said he is totally new to all the terms etc...

Also about not having JUST sugar...: I still disagree I would almost say breakfast is the worst time of day for sugar (if you even take it in at all)

And you also think the sugar free soda is so obvious? there are many who say you should not lay a finger on ANY diet soda (aspertame & free radicals etc)...and Im saying some people keep their sanity with some diet coke etc...

Donuts are a great food to base your diet around.

just to answer one of your questions... egg whites refer to everything inside the shell but the yolk. construct a diet for yourself by viewing the "How to cut" thread at the top. if there's something you don't understand, be specific about your questions and ask ask ask, that's why this board is here.

food 101? Why would go to a beginners class that tells you totally wrong stuff...? that would defeat the purpose...GOOD NIGHT SWEETY!!
