    Squat Variation Question

I recently did squats with my heels elevated and it really worked my quads well. does anyone do this? or does anyone have any info about this they wouldn't mind sharing? i did a search and reviewed a few variation examples but this really helped me torch my quads and was just wanting some brotherly input on this. thanks, nOva

no there is a squat station at the university that i always do my dead lifts and squats on. ( i guess i'm kind of a big deal ) and i did it on the edge of that, but it was probably about 3 inches off the ground. i did these after my 2 sets of heavy squats and my leg press routine. so i used 115 lbs and did 2 sets of 20 reps, and i was seriously grunting from the quad burn. hope you like it ...

I use to do this quite a bit when I squatted and it's a great variation and made my quads burn. NewKid, I used a 2 x 4 board and you should notice that it will also improve your balance. Here’s a picture to show you what novastepp is telling us about.

thanks for the pic! my heels were a little more elevated i think but just because the station i used was a little higher i will be using a 2x4 next week. and i did use a shoulder width stance because close feet would have made me fall my legs were so damn tired

You're welcome for the picture. It is a great variation to regular squatting.

    I do it.

I use two board variations: 1/4" block and the 1/2" block

When doing these i squat below parallel.

It's important to watch the path your knees travel... cus the tendency for this movement is to allow the knees to stray past the toes.. which put sstress on the knees.

    So watch out for that
