Don't get a projection... you'll never see it when the sunlight hits it. And they say Plasma's are going to have problems in 5 years + when they start requiring repair...etc. Go with an LCD.

Looking for a new flat screen TV myself, I was leaning toward a 32" LCD. I was going to use for computer, PS, and TV. I've heard images can burn into the screen (pixels) of plasmas and this doesn't happen with LCD's as far as I know.
Anybody have a recommendation on brands?

projection tv screens are nowhere near as bad as they used to be. and as of right now its the only one that you can get with 1080p. i know nothing is broadcasted yet that high but the picture is still rediculous. i like lcd also. not a big fan of the plasmas pictures. if you want something large and affordable you go with the projo. if the size doesnt matter much like under 50" get an lcd. and only get a plasma if you want to hang it on the wall and you want it to be 50" or larger.

    LCD

Side note. I have an employee discount. I can buy anything Sony makes at cost with a spending limit of $15,000 a year. A $4,000 LCD costs me little over $2,000.

    whats LCD stand for?

We have a plasma that we got for free..and im not very keen on it

we had a 60" flat screen, and my parents switched to a 48" plasma and its not the same..

the bigger the TV the better...along with a nice surround sound..watch some cinderella man..awesome.

LCD's are the shit, and if you are talking about the 80's projection tv's, they are cheap because they suck shit and weigh more than a small car.

Maybe he overstated the actual size. It wouldn't be the first time it on this board.

There is also a 46" BRAVIA but it's not XBR. Not sure if there is a big difference.

Nice LCD and you getting half off, great deal. I'd go for it, but i'm an impulse shopper.

Maybe swole is talking about a 50' LCD rear projection?

I like the idea of the built in HD tuner. If I get this shit, I'm gonna have to upgrade to an HD Tivo. I'm not even sure they make them.

Your cable provider doesn't offer a Tivo equivalent?

Cable providers are getting over. They are showing higher definition channels but it's not full HD resolution. Basically a full HD resolution signal takes up "X" amount of space. What they are doing is lowering the resolution and compressing the signal to fit several channels in the same amount of space. You're getting higher resolution than standard definition but not the full HD.

    Did that make sense?

So how does the HD tuner or HD Tivo play into this?

If I get an HDTV I would go with satellite. So I'd need an HD sat box with built in Tivo or a seperate stand alone box.
