    Hard time diagnosing this problem

About a month ago I started to notice my right elbow was starting to become painful when doing workouts targeted for my triceps. Bench or shoulders none of them bother the elbow. I never felt or saw any swelling in the elbow. And I can use my arm all I want until I try to do any concentrated tricep workouts. I have been laying off triceps, following some of the threads here on rehab for such symptoms. But it doesn't seem to be going anway, iceing it or applying heat makes no difference in levels of pain. So I am kind of confused. I guess I will just keep up with my rehab on it with the rubber bands, but was looking for some insight into the problem.

I could do close grip bench with no problem. But if I try to do like overhead dumbbell extensions or even tricep pushdowns with a bar I basically want to cry.

have you been to the doctor ? i had something similiar in the shoulder, got an mri and it was an inflammation (tendonitis), ive been doing the rubber band rehab and it hasnt felt this good for the last 10 months...

go see ur doc, its always better to be safe than sorry, and stop working out for somet time, give ur elbow a little rest

Your symptoms probably are indicative of Tricep tendonitis. Skull crushers and overhead extensions put a great deal of strain on the triceps tendon and create an enviroment ripe for microtrauma. Generally takes a long time to heal and will be reinjured with these exercises if healing time isn't given. I would take a little time off all tri work, ice, stretch, massage the area then gently reintroduce pressdowns, CGBP etc...I wouldn't do any overhead extensions for a few weeks or skull chrushers. When you do start these exercises, begin lightly. Stretch out your tris prior to any activity.

Ya, I have been doing all of the regular things for an injury. Like I said i can do the same movements with no resistence and feel no pain and i can do bench and all that with no issues.

I agree with the above, tendonitis, use motrin, rest and ice and it will be fine.

Well, I havent worked my triceps for this month, and it is still an irritation. Im wondering if preacher curls are bothering it as well.

it could be if you are forcing out alotof heavy reps. cut them back regular curls and see how it works
