Is svchost.exe a friggin virus or what? 9,000-28,000k??

I haev multiple svchost.exe's on my task manager and one of em can take up to like 28,000k at times. WTF IS THIS??? Slowin down my shit big time.

it's a generic host process that windows uses...it's supposed to have individual ones like that...however there are a couple of virus's that show as the same name as that. 28k is a little high... do you have anything running when that is like that? I'd run a good antivirus / spy sweeper software anyway just to be on the safe side...but other than that i woudln't worry.

For whatever reason with XP Microsoft felt compelled to have the svchost only run a few services on it per process. In windows 2000 theres generally only one, but I have two because of the amount of things im doing. I hate XP.

actually in 2000 and xp they have multiple svhosts run.
