    Deadlift...every week?

I dead lift every week and ive been seeing gains with it....is this alright? I know a lot of guys go every other week...is this because of recovery time?

I think the operative part of your statement is "I've been seeing gains with it". Keep it up until you plateau. Don't fix it if it ain't broken.

I've done both over the years (1xwk, 1xevery other wk). I prefer weekly myself.

i've always gone weekly for about 6 weeks, then take 1 or 2 weeks off from em, then hit em up again... usually i find myself being stronger with em after the 1 or 2 week lay off.

same here. i love deadlifts, i do them first in most back workouts. about every 6 weeks i will take 2-3 weeks off from doing them, and same as ShnouzedUp, gain strength doing it this way

As long as you are seeing progress, don't change a thing. Once you plateau, that is when you have to address the issue.

I feel deads are imperative to get that thick, I-beam look in the back. As long as you are not sore from the previous week, DO 'EM!

Deadlifts have a progressively deleterious effect on the connective tissue of the lumbar especially, so if you start to feel strained then its time to do them once fortnightly for a while to allow some proper rest. Otherwise hit up the once per week deads until you plateau, like someone else said.

Deadlifts have a progressively positive effect on the connective tissue of the lumbar especially

Agreed. There is also a negative effect. If you keep on curling with a barbell even though it begins to give you wrist pain after several weeks, it will only get worse as the connective tissue gets knackered.

I certainly can yeah. Lower back feels achey and a bit tired even after a week break. Its not a specific injury, and maybe not everyone gets this. Longer breaks work for me, and then I can go back to more regular deads.

Good idea, they are a great mass and strength builder for the whole of the back (excluding lats) as well as the forearms and upper trap fibres. Form is probably more important than any other exercise...to prevent injury

i agree to a point any muscle over worked or trained with poor form will suffer injury at some point but deads should be in any serious lifters workout,if you feel they are taxing you too much then lay off but if you use correct form and dont over do it there should be no problems,i know what your saying about the wrist thing but thats through straight-bar bicep curls being an awkward position in the first place.

    Cool lift away

Yeah i deadlift every week, the only time i stopped was bcus i had a trapped nerve in my pelvis. You should go as heavy as possible (always warm up) i DONT use any aids like a weight support belt only bcus i think i wont give me the full benifit of the lift. I also incorperate romanian (straight legged) deadlift in my routine on leg day (for hams) so i guess i deadlift twice a week. So yeah once a week is perfectly fine, just watch out for lower back injuries!
