Well, its stress city over here. To make a long story short, I'm in the process of buying a house right now, and I'm also getting married in 3 weeks. My fiances credit sucks, she had to file bankruptcy 2 years ago, so I'm just getting the home loan in my name alone. Now the shitty part about all of this is the closing on the home is scheduled for May 30th, and the wedding is May 13th. As soon as we're married we become forced to show everything as household income, therefore I wont get a good interest rate like I am getting right now. With a combined household, our interest rate would be through the roof and there is no way we could afford the house. So ideally I'd want to have the wedding May 13th, but not sign the wedding license until after the closing on the house, but I know many preachers may find this unethical and have beef over it. I already have people coming in on flights and hotel resevations, I've already paid for the wedding, this ****ing sucks. Damnit I wish I could find a way around all of it. The lender keeps telling me,"look, I dont know nothing, but if the state housing authority eventually investigates this then it's your ass legally" So I'm really between a rock and a hard place right now. Do I take the chance and go ahead and just do it? do I try to talk to somebody and explain that we cant have the wedding papers signed until after the closing? I spoke to my dad about it all, and he seems to think that the only way anybody will investigate anything is if we default on the mortgage.
