Thread: Face tanning

    Face tanning

In the tanning salons they of course have the eye protector provided. I know it is bad for your eyes without these..but I always have the tan lines underneath my eyes and its like a "sunglasses tan" or whatever you call it. Is it still bad to keep your eyes closed with tanning? This would help out the problem just not sure if it is harmful?

yes you need eye protection...some salons have stuff called wink-ease...ore something like that, but they should just fit over your eyes so you have no line...they are kinda made of foil and roll up to look like a cone, they are often used by girls who dont want their nipples to tan

The light can still make it through the thin layer of skin on your lid so you want to use something else.. Those things MW is talking about work well and only cover your lid (kind of like having tint on them and it will protect your eyes.

Just get a light bronzer for under your eyes (self tanner). But always use your goggles.

Alright will do. They dont have those at my place unfortunately. So if they can go through your eyelids..can they go through everywhere else. I didnt wear the goggles one time and just closed my eyes and my eyes actually hurt after. Stupid me..wont be doin that anymore

keep your eyes closed tight and never open them while the lights are on.

Also watch not to use lotion so close to the eyelid that it leaks on to the eyeball. This will also cause your eyeballs to burn later.

That's strange. I use the sunbed 3 times a week at 12 minutes a go, have a very dark tan, but have no white patches around my eyes. The googles i have only cover the eyes. Do you use lie down or stand up beds chest?

Using no googles is a bad idea. I did it once for a while but sometimes it felt like my eye balls were burning, literally!

What type of goggles are you using also? You want small ones such as a brand called sunglobes, very small individual eye covers. I would post a pic if the IMG code was on.

If you have some of the bigger ones with the nose bridge, they can tend to cover too much of your eye.

So glad you posted this, I couldn't remember what they were called! I had a set years ago and they rocked. Stupid me loaned them to my roommate and she lost them, and the salon I got them from closed. I've never seen them in a salon since. Only seen those foil things, which aren't nearly as good IMHO.

They just cover the eye. There isnt a nosepiece for the sit down ones..but there is for the stand up. The stand up goggles are smaller and theres a little thread thing that ties around your head. For the sit down the nosepiece is a little plastic wire that connects the two eyepieces.

I just realised what i actually do, am such a dumb ass.

Say i go on for 12 minutes, i use the googles for 9/10 minutes and take them off for the last 2/3 minutes. This seems to work very well for me. I have no white circles and it doesn't feel like my eyeballs are melting. I wear contact lenses too and nothing dries out either.

Hm...I might try that. Sounds like a good idea. Today I tried putting them as high up on my eye as possible, while still covering all of my eye. Felt like they were on the very edge and the line went up a little...

I started using the standup bed..its only 10 minutes. I use goggles and have not noticed any "tan lines" or anything.
