    The saga continues...

Well as many of you know I'm having some injury problems right now. One of them is a partial pec tear.

Well anyway, today I went for my second opinion and the doctor looked at the MRI. He said "this just shows the pectoral muscle...and yes you have a tear in the muscle. But after evaluating you and looking at you, I think it's possible you may have slightly torn the tendon as well. I'm scheduling you for an MRI tues. to see if the tendon was damaged. Than I'll see you once I have the results." He said if its really damaged, he can do surgery. If it's only a little torn there's nothing he can do.

I'm a complete nervous wreck. Now if the tendon is damaged, I may need surgery. If it's damaged and I don't get surgery, I can forget about boxing again. Or grappling or heavy lifting again for that matter. Not to mention if it's torn and I don't get surgery, I may get it ripped right off, the next time I get into it with somebody.

So I'm praying that this MRI tues. shows there's nothing wrong with the tendon. If it does, I'm screwed.

People come back from complete tears to perform well in most cases. A pec tear is not the end of the world. It may seem that way because, you're focusing only on the worst case scenario. You have a waiting game right now. Keep doing the PT, see what the MRI shows and go on from there.

this is sound and good advice, you cant get crazy thinking about the worst outcome, thinking positive and you will get positive results, you are doing everything you can to get better, with determination and drive like you have, i have no doubt you will comeback. believe it yourself! patience is a virtue

I know I can come back. The question is will I be just as strong and as fast (punching power).

I did this on March 21. Today is April 29 and it's still swollen and hurts.

My plan was to keep doing PT until Mon. June 5 and than start gradually getting back into lifting. This is if the MRI shows I didn't do damage to the tendon.

Is there a possibility I will be able to start lifting again on Mon. June 5? That will be about 5 weeks from today and 11 weeks from when I initially injured the pec.

Also, I asked barbndr this, if I have only a slight tendon tear can I still make a full recovery from this injury. I thought damaged tendons don't heal, only torn muscles heal. If this MRI comes back that I have even a slight tendon tear, will this tendon heal itself or am I screwed?

Also would taking glutamine help me heal? What is the best glutamine to take for a partially torn muscle (peptides or L-glutamine)?

You guys have been a great help (especially barbndr and Doc. Sust). I have never faced a depression like this before. I hope this starts feeling better in the next 4-5 weeks.
