I've done it with my spreadsheet program (I use Lotus 123).

The cards from the printers look and feel more professional, mostly because the ones you print at home have to be seperated from sheets, and the edges don't tear completely smooth. They look home-made and tacky. Also, most of the PC programs that allow you to make your own cards at home encourage you to add too much stuff, too many pictures, too much color. Much better to have too little color and splash than too much, IMHO. Especially if you have an inkjet printer--because then all that extra ink funks up the paper's surface and really makes the card look amateurish.

Actually Avery has come out with a pretty decent card... no perforations and a good thick semi-glossy cardboard. Once separated they look like genuine cards.

Check out Avery 38871 "Clean edge white business cards"

Then you go on Avery's website and download "Design Pro" to make your cards. Works nicely for me.

I suggest getting them professionally done if its for an actual business unless you have an awesome printer.

    or you can go to
www.VistaPrint.com for free business cards, all you gotta do is pay for shipping.

I have personal, and business cards. it's the way you gotta do it!
