Accutane

Hey,

sorry if im da wrong fourm but it seemed ok...
ive been to the dermentologist and he gave me these 2 creams (acne) that didnt really do much. I am going back....i just want to kno how hard it is to get him to give you Accutane? Or is it just here it is...? From my understanding its expensive as hell. Does anyone kno how much their cycle of it was and how many u needed?

depends on how the doctor feels about accutane. some will give it to you depending on how bad your acne is. MOST doctors dont like to prescribe it because of side effects it has. usually becomes the last option as they try everything else first..

My doc said they were told to not prescribe it...and if the patient really wanted it, that they would refer you to a derm, and let the derm handle it.

no im talking about an acually derm. he gave me something for some pill but i forgot what it was. (about 1/2 year ago) i didnt want it. and i kno it wasnt accutane. so i at least kno he will give me some kindof pill. If he dosnt give me accutane then should i take what ever he gives me?

Some derms wont prescribe it. I acttually called and asked if they do use if before i made my apointment. I think they are required by law to try other methods first. You are going to have to get bloodwork down before you start and every month while on it.
My insurance paid for it but it was around $600 for a months supply.

accutane is hard to get cause of its side effects, this is true, but I went to see a derm, and they gave me tazorac and then some pill, but after talking to the doc. I told them I had been struggling with acne for a while and nothing else seemed to work and I wanted to seriously consider accutane. I got on it, but its a bitch. You have to go once a month and get a new perscription for it and you have to fill it withiin 7 days or you lose it for the month and they will not refuill for another 30 days, depending on the dosage and your current health you may have to do monthly blood tests. I dunno what this $600 business is, my insurancer only has me pay $10 for a month supply, but get the generic kind "Amnesteem"...good luck bro. (sorry for the length)

My insurance paid for it too. Some dont. But when i get my reicept at the rx it says what the medicine cost if you had to pay for it. It would have been around $600

Having this knowledge will help you not only decide whether or not it is for you but will also help persuade your derm/doc that you are an adult and understand the consequences.....risk/reward of taking these actions.
