    Wrestling after Turner?

Who else belives that wrestling took a horrible crash after Vince McMahon bought out Turner.

When the WCW was on the air, they were constantly competing with the WWF. New special matches between great characters took place for a rating war.

If WCW were still on the air now, wrestling as a whole would be much better again imo.

I loved WCW. When Hogan became a heel, and created NWO... that was awesome. Almost as great as when he fought Andre the Giant. Hogan was a great face and heel. Good guy or bad guy, he was a great wrestling character. Macho Man is the same. Ultimate Warrior, Sting, all the old greats of wrestling were on WCW.

Huh . . . I remember watching Vince McMahon doing ringside match calling at the televised wrestling matches in Boston back in 1975. He had the great luminaries such as Mr. Fuji, Lou Albano, Haystack Calhoun, and yes, even Andre the Giant. Ya, he's been working this game for a while now . . .
None of his guys ever had the class of the Texas Von Erich brothers, IMHO . . .

the Texas Von Erich brothers that was some wrestlers. I remember watching one of the last matches before they were all killed off. I got to see the last one alive wrestle live. Now they had talent. But if you are going to mention Captain Lou Albano, you have better mention Hacksaw Jim Duggin.

Ya, Kerry was huge. I went to the Dallas Sportatorium with a church group once to watch the Von Erichs, and Kerry came bounding down the aisle to the ring. Huge, that's all there is to describe the fellow; a grand sight. Just like watching an ocean liner slide out of drydock into the sea while still giving the impression that there's an awful lot of something there. Quite remarkable . . .

Texas Monthly magazine did a story on the last surviving Von Erich (Kevin) recently. He's wealthy, doesn't have to work anymore, in his late 40's, and somewhat paunchy. That's what 20 years will do to ya . . .

Yup, there's no-one to compete with Vince anymore. I do enjoy seeing the matches with Vince in them. Shane is not that entertaining imo, hopefully he'll manage it better than Vince when he takes over.

80s and 90s were great. There was competition, and it was WAY more interesting.

Maybe I have grown up, but wrestling has changed. It's no longer the family entertainment that it used to be.

The new competition is MMA. And wrestling can't compete against the real thing.
