I took my Dad for his diabetic check up It Sucks!

I took my dad for his first check up. His sugar was like 300, he lost weight bad, he gets real tire after work. He did not want to go but I made him go. I know this is nothing to talk about but I just have let it out of my chest. It sucks knowing that someone in your family is ill and can't do nothing about it.

my bad. My dad had some symthoms of diabetis. he didn't want to go to the doc but told him that we needed to find out if he was diabetic. After we got the results they told us that he was diabetic. He looked depress for a while but I talk to him and he kindda got over it. Is just that it sucks when someone that you are close to is sick there is no cure for it. Now he has to control it.

diabetes is a more cripiling disease than people think, make sure he takes care of himself and monitors his blood sugar, is he type 1 or type 2? juvenile onset or adult onset?

bro I don't know but I'll make sure and call to find out about it. what are the differences between type 1 or 2? I guess he's adult onset. what else can you tell about it.

type 2 can be comtrolled and isnt as diblitating if you takecare of yourself, with a proper diet and exercise , a bit of weight loss, you can alleviate almost alll the syptoms 90% of the time. type 1,juvenile, you dad would have had it when he was a kid, he would be taking insulin injections his whole life, type 2 adult happens later in life and usualy the patient doesnt take insulin

well they didn't tell him to take insulin injections, so I'm guessing he is a type 2. The doc told him to be on a diet, exercise. but still it Sucks. thanks bro for all the info.

Now I just hope I don't get diabetis untill I'm way older. I'm 24 now. thanks again.

if you did get it now it would be type 2 not type 1, and if you keep yourself in check, exercise regularly and diet and eat good you will have NO worries

What amazes me about diabetes is that often people that can control it just go back to the same habits they had that caused them to be diabetic.

Blood sugar problems run in my family as well. You just have to control it. If people don't, then it can get really really bad.

I'm a type 2 diabetic as well. 27 years old and just found out last year.

Finding out that I have diabetes has been the best thing for me. Why? Because I found out whay I was getting so sick all the time and it motivates me to eat right and workout.

If your sugar level is over 200, 2 hours after a meal then you are in an unhealthy range.

Last year I would be close to 300 at times.

With a proper workout routine, keeping a healthy diet and using the right supplements, I am now in a normal range of anywhere between 90-130, 2 hours after meals.

As a matter of fact, after some recent bloodwork, my doctor said it is almost as if I don't even have diabetes anymore and to keep doing what I am doing.

Your dad needs to educate himself about what he has. Go to www.diabetes.org to get some very useful info.

I suggest that you get your father to start taking vitamins everyday. Additionally get a supplement called "Alpha Lipoic Acid" or (ALA). Take the ALA with another supplement called biotin before every meal. Combined, these 2 supplements alone will help control your dads sugar amazingly.

But don't expect miracle results from just pills though. He has got to eat right and excercise regularly.

He doesn't have to be a bodybuilder to be healthy but he should atleast do some cardio a few times a week like walking on a treadmill or going jogging 45min. or more each time.

He should also talk to a dietition now that he knows he is a diebetic.

Mine suggested to cut out as much sugar in my meals as I could. No more than 15g of sugar each meal.

No drinking, no candy, cake and shit like that either.

Good luck and you, yourself should also watch out because diabetes DOES run in family's.

Yes but only if your in the absolute best shape of your life before you do and you know what you are doing and what you are taking.

Don't fvck with any insulin as some do.

If you are not a diabetic now, you will know what it feels like when you are on gear.

Don't expect high energy levels from gear. You will feel pooped. So pooped that it will be hard to workout.

Your dad will be o.k. (if he decides to be). It won't be easy for him, changing all his habits I'm sure. I was diagnosed with type I when I was 18 and I am now 32. It has allowed me to live a much healthier life, than I probally would have. It is a disease with no cure but it can be managed better than any other disease I know about. If you have any specifc questions shoot me a PM. I'd be happy to help out.
