He was never in Royces guard. At one point he was in his half guard, but Matt went into side mount.

same with me, i was dissappointed, wanted to at least see gracie give hughes a little bit of a challenge. hughes took him down and it was all downhill from there.

and i bet royce isnt gonna be using that left arm for a while, that had to be painful, i think he would have let hughes snap his arm (he possibly did, they didnt confirmed it) before submitting.

yeah he showed no respect for hughes' grappling when he should of because hughes transitioned to a pass into side mount right off the bat, then passed half guard when royce got that, then ruined his arm, and he still gives up his back like it's sakaraba/arsennes.i cannot believe royce did that sh*t. Well he needs to really train hard since his next opponent will be Pierre but either win or lose I deffianlty think hughes even before this fight has cemented himself as a future hall of famer. He is a excellent example of cross training

you know i hate hughes for some reason too...but as far as him being cocky...he paid Royce TONS of respect that fight. Everything from his normal pace / eyeing his apponant before the fight (he didn't do it)... to his comments after the fight.

Alot of people dont like hughes but I do. I think GSP can beat him and will but I like hughes alot. People point out he is cocky well so is Silva, Rampage, most elite fighters do have some attitude but they are more charasmatic then hughes and thats why they are liked more even though they talk way more shit. Others hate him becouse of Tuf 2 well editting is a tricky a thing and not to believe everything they say but I for one likes hughes.
