To whack or not to whack...

I had some incredible gains all the back in HS when I had no sexual activity at all! I am sure doing this on aas would make somebody start to lose their mind, but do you think the gains and results would be even better? There was an Olympian recently who supposedly did the same thing and one a gold in his event after not beating it for like four years. What do you guys think?

I will have to agree. You will not have better gains if you dont jerk off. Just think of how stupid that sounds, if I dont wack off Im gonna get more muscle...ya that makes sense. Releasing semen has nothing to do with your testosterone levels. You probably gained so well during high school because your testosterone levels were very high, not because you werent getting laid like everyone else was. j/k

I highly doubt anyone on this whole board would give up sexual activity to enhance their performance in the gym and to look better and if you think you would you are lying to yourself. The thought of it is just torcher.

like others said. it's a mith.
there is however some coaches that tell thier players in certain sports that it's better not to jerk off a couple hours before a game. because it makes them more agressive.

and as far as "not cleaning your pipes" for a long time, i read somewhere that it is unhealthy for your reproductive organs.
and i would guess your mental state too.

I personaly believe there is some truth to it, however it is related only psychologicaly and applied as an "edge" tactic.

Your drive will indeed go up if unable to release for a certain amount of time.
However I believe there is only a window of opportunity to be capaitalized upon.
Wait long enough and yes, if you are intelligent you can apply this extra drive and aggression or "Energy" for you chi minded individuals, into what ever endeavor you choose.

However, go too long with out a release and the psychological effects may reverse and actually cause introverted negativity patterns, elevated stress levels and other such patterns which aren't neccessarily beneficial.

Each individuals own window of oportunity may be different in its timing, but none the less, to abstain from release for short periods of time can definitely be intelligently channeled into what ever area you choose to focus on, giving that little extra at the end of your set, etc.

    Thats MPO

    From an old thread...

Well - for all those threads asking, "Does the testosterone leak out when I cum"... here is some info from PubMed...

BTW - if your on cycle - this should not apply... since your body is not making any test and you are controlling your actual T levels...

Endocrine response to masturbation-induced orgasm in healthy men following a 3-week sexual abstinence.

"This current study examined the effect of a 3-week period of sexual abstinence on the neuroendocrine response to masturbation-induced orgasm. Hormonal and cardiovascular parameters were examined in ten healthy adult men during sexual arousal and masturbation-induced orgasm. Blood was drawn continuously and cardiovascular parameters were constantly monitored. This procedure was conducted for each participant twice, both before and after a 3-week period of sexual abstinence. Plasma was subsequently analysed for concentrations of adren****e, noradren****e, cortisol, prolactin, luteinizing hormone and testosterone concentrations. Orgasm increased blood pressure, heart rate, plasma catecholamines and prolactin. These effects were observed both before and after sexual abstinence. In contrast, although plasma testosterone was unaltered by orgasm, higher testosterone concentrations were observed following the period of abstinence. These data demonstrate that acute abstinence does not change the neuroendocrine response to orgasm but does produce elevated levels of testosterone in males." PUBMED

A research on the relationship between ejaculation and serum testosterone level in men.

The purpose of this study is to gain understanding of the relationship between ejaculation and serum testosterone level in men. The serum testosterone concentrations of 28 volunteers were investigated daily during abstinence periods after ejaculation for two phases. The authors found that the fluctuations of testosterone levels from the 2nd to 5th day of abstinence were minimal. On the 7th day of abstinence, however, a clear peak of serum testosterone appeared, reaching 145.7% of the baseline ( P < 0.01). No regular fluctuation was observed following continuous abstinence after the peak. Ejaculation is the precondition and beginning of the special periodic serum testosterone level variations, which would not occur without ejaculation. The results showed that ejaculation-caused variations were characterized by a peak on the 7th day of abstinence; and that the effective time of an ejaculation is 7 days minimum. These data are the first to document the phenomenon of the periodic change in serum testosterone level; the correlation between ejaculation and periodic change in the serum testosterone level, and the pattern and characteristics of the periodic change. Not very healthy for your prostate... they say you should ejaculate at least 5 times a week for a healthy prostate... it becomes MORE important as you age and approach the age of 40 and beyond.

Also its well known that when you have anticipation of sex... like you have a sex date planned for Friday - that your testosterone levels AND semen production start increasing as you approach Friday. Just like your workout your arm and it gets bigger... go ahead and workout your manhood... it will make more of what it does. Letting your sex sit idle is going to cause your body to drop its testosterone production and semen production in the long run.

    Agreed!
It's more likely that since you weren't having sex it was easier to focus both time and energy on workouts and eating.

As for the Olympian, I guarantee he was atypical, and that his excellence was related to the same ‘focus’ mentioned above.

Do you really think guys fly around the games on land, water and air NOT to have sex? Okay maybe women’s gymnastics, since their sport stunts development they're all technically prepubescent.

I beat that little bastard like he owes me money ! And I don't plan on quitin everrrrrr!!!!!!

But seriously, even if whacking negatively effects endo test levels as the posted studies indicate-when on cycle, you have no endogenous test levels-so holding out on yourself when on cycle would be pointless.

I think thier is some truth to it. I know after I finish with sex. I am tired and lazy. And it takes a while to recover. My coach always told us that sex will weaken your legs... I actually avoid sex before a workout . I want all the focus and strength concentrated on my workout.
