GI is the insulin response from a given carb aka "glycemix index"

4 calories per gram of pro/carb, and 9 calories per gram of fat.

Gi from my experience is the Glycemic Index

Breakdown for 1 gram of carb or protein is 4 calories
    1 gram of fat = 9 calories

Dang Swole - you're quick on those keys!

You have to watch how your body responds to hi GI carbs. If you are overweight or are looking to lose weight, it's best to avoid them (post-workout being an exception) to control blood sugar swings and peaks/valleys that lead to weight gain and fat storage.
