    DOC. SUST advice please!!!!

three months ago i had an ACL recon. done on my left knee
The problem i'm having is when i fully extend my knee standing up then bend it forward (while standing up) i feel something moves inside, the sensation comes from the medial side and goes towards the front of the knee then it cracks right along the joint line

My doc says give it time, he never gave me a good answer as to what it is, and now i'm kindda freaked out cause i dont know what is going on

do you have any input as to what it could be

without evaluating the knee myself, i cant really say but even with ortho tests i still wouldnt be 100%sure since i am really not a knee specialist, but one thing i can tell u is u need an mri to see whats going on, that is the only way to know 100% if something is truly wrong. i can make some guess diagnosis, but it would only be specualtion. my advice is, if you have health innsurance seek an orthopedic consultation

    thanx Doc.Sust

i spoke to my ortho surgeon and i asked him to set me up wit an mri, he said their is no need. I guess he was convinced that it was just part of the healing process. i'm very pessimistic about his thoughts so i'm probably gonna see an other ortho surgeon

    thanxs for your thoughts anyways

Greco, i had knee surgery almost a year ago. I have gone back to the doc and PT more times than i can count. Everytime i have a question and im worried somthing is wrong. Your knee will make clicks and noises and pops for a long time dude. I still freak my friends out with sounds my knee makes when i extend it. An ACL recon is a big surgery!! They screw with a lot of crap in there....especialy if the trimmed any miniscus while they were in there. I have been surfing hard for the last few months and went back to limping and stayed away from the gym for a few weeks and actually lost a bit of muscle that i worked sooo hard to gain. I am gonna do another cycle now to really get those muscle's back to 110%. That is the most important thing...they are the shock absorbers for the whole knee. if they are not strong...your joint takes the brunt....bad.

Doc Sust, a second opinion is never a bad idea but with knees, especially ACL recons, they can do quick and acurate tests to know if the graft has taken and if any other damage to any other Ligs/cartilage has been done. You will know if you reinjure it. It takes a hell of a twist and bend to tear a graft off. jmho!

the way i look at it is this, an mri is the ultimate diagnostic test for this type of injury.there is no second guessing n mri or any doubt. we all pay ridiculous amounts of money for health insurance or your employer does. why not take advantage of a second mri considering how much one forks out per year to the insurance company for helath care? fck them, they make enough money from all of us, they can provide and should provide

    thanx dudes for everything!!

they did trim some to the meniscus, the doc actually said that there was major meniscus damage, i'm just a bit concerned cause i'm still 2-3 degrees from full extension and i wanna no if thats okay, i'm on week 12 and i still feel like i cant walk properly

i'm just gonna wait it out a little bit longer and try to get the muscle's back, and let my body do what its gotta do

BIGJEFF1212 how long did it take u to start running and actually feeling close to 100%

    again thanx guys

if your only 12 wks out, give it more time and see if it gets better, that isnt enough time to recuperate 100%
