    Noob needing knowledge

    Hey guys.....

This is my first post on these forums and on any forum related to health and fitness. I am really wanting to change my body image and friend of mine directed me here. I have read many helpful threads and I hope to learn more by contributing to some of the discussions....but right now I simply want to figure out how to lose weight without losing muscle.

I am 33 year old desk jockey liviing in Chicago. I am 6'2" and 250 lbs. I love to play basketball and volleyball, even though I am currently out of commission due to having my knee scoped a few weeks ago.

I work out about 3 - 4 times a week during my lunch break by lifting weights or doing the elliptical machine (it about all my knee can handle right now).

Do I HAVE to eat 6 meals a day to lose weight?

Six months ago I got down to 238 lbs. buy doing diet shakes and keeping my caloric intake right at 1500. I was not working out at the time, so I know I lost muscle as well as fat. Now that I have started back to lifting, I have gained weight, some of which is muscle, but I am back to 250 lbs.

I am frustrated and tired of not having any success.

Damnit, I am going to the gym right now!!!!!!

andf 1500 for cals is WAY to low, you will be losing muscle and not fat which is what you want. After you take a look at the cutting sticky and do some research, try to figure out your new diet, and training schedule and post it up so we can help you out. Good luck

Sure, 6 meals is what you should aim for but remember, they are going to be smaller meals so you aren't going to be tempted/have to snack.

Hmmm, 1,500 cals is very low (not sure how you can even function on that) I am cutting at almost 2,400 cals (I weigh 195 lbs.) successfully and feel stronger than ever. Your most likely going to have to adjust your diet more than once but be patient until you see the results you want.

Throw your diet up on the board and we will be happy to critique it for you.
