What do ya'll think about Mike Mentzer's HIT training tecniques? Have any of you tried those routines? I was wondering how training like that while "on" would work. Any opinions or expiriences?
Thanx.

Well i am a natural so i can't tell you what it's like training like him while taking steroids, but i did read his book and like his ideas. I never went ahead and did the whole HIT onces every 7 days thing, but tried a more dorian style 1 set to failure programme while incorporating mentzers fundamental priciples.
I like it, but i think it falls down a little if you don't have a training partner.
i too followed mentzer's ideas for a while, the concept of complete and total muscular failure. recently i've been leaning towards lighter weight (as opposed to 80% max) and more reps while focusing on motion, and muscle movement, and working through the burn
I tried HIT for a month or so. Got a little stronger, but no noticible size gains.
You need to check out the thread on Ironmans HIT routine located in the Various Workout thread at the top of the page. It is the SH!T and you will see many fans of this style of training.

After college, I followed Dorian's version as well. It is amazing how much your strength increases on each exercise, when you are not fatigued from multiple sets. My brother trained with me so we where doing forced reps, negatives, and the like. It is the strongest I have ever gotten. You have to watch your caloric intake, though, because with the decreased volume is easy to get fat. If you are to train alone, it is very difficult to apply his high-intensity techniques.Originally Posted by Prime
