    Why do shoulders?

Is there really a reason to do shoulders on their own day?? I usually did shoulders w/ chest but i wanted a change but its 3 days after i did chest and my front delts are still sore.

I feel like i get enough work from chest to not even do front delts again...

    any thought??

    Why do shoulders?

Thats like asking Why do Penis Curls?

It makes your thing bigger and stronger!!! duh!

And working out more, def gets you more "ahead" in things.

kyjelly he was just asking a question bro.. GETBIG there are many people who just throw in 3 sets of shoulders after chest and their shoulders are growing just fine.. I remember reading that swole throws in 3 or 4 exercises for shoulders after chest and he has cannon balls for delts, shoulders, etc.. each person is different, but you can still throw in a shoulder to shock your body and stuff..

Bro, if your shoulders are genetically big and powerful like myself, then no, you dont have to do them every week. My chest gains actually shot up when I discontinued them for a short while and/or cut back on them. If I were you I'd do them EO wk. And dont try to go real heavy on lateral raises, save your gas for the presses.

I train shoulders once/month. No need with heavy back/chest workouts.

    Arms are the same IMO.

You hit the anterior pretty well when doing your chest presses/bench/ect. You should also be hitting the posterior delt when doing back. The only thing I would say you should def do for the shoulders is lateral raises. Personally, I like to isolation workouts for the shoulders (each muscle head). It's worked great for me, my shoulders are probably my best asset. It also hasn't affected the growth of my chest negatively at all.

Myself, I never do shoulders alone, and do VERY little work.

If I flat bench, I'll do perhaps 4 d-bell shoulder presses and that's it.

If I incline that day, I'll do 4 lateral side raises and that's it.

My shoulders are big enough already, and it's everything I can do in order to get my chest to keep up with them.

Exact same for me, i hit my chest and back hard, my shoulders keep up no problem. My forearms and abs are the same way, no need to train them by themselves.

Wish i had the same issue with my Tris

it depends from person to person

I never used to do shoulders thinking that chest days and back days covered them but they never grew..always felt unbalanced somehow...the moment I threw in a shoulder day once a week (with 1 exercise anterior, one lateral and 1 rear) , 12 weeks later, I had awesome lookind delts and i filled my t-shirts out pretty well! besides, I have low-set shoulders (the kind that isnt prominent) so I need to make them big to be visible..

However, I have a friend who never did any direct shoulder or Ab exercises but had delts and a six pack you would kill for....however, he had to do twice the amount/intensity of bicep exercises than I did cuz his bis were very unresponsive...so everyone's different

    enough rambling
    cheers

thanx for all the reply's fellas.

swole i based aworkout off of all the information you gave in different threads over a year ago, including the leg workout.
I don't remember exactly what you recommended in one post but it was something like this
    day 1: chest/delt/tri
    day 2: back/bi/ trap
    day 3: off
    day 4:legs
    day 5: off

in your previous post you said if you incline that day you do side delts and if you flat bench you do anterior presses. I usually do flat and incline everytime i do chest. I guess my question is would you not recommend this?

Surprises me so many people dont do or do very little shoulder exercises. I do them on their own day or with tris. My best bodypart by far and can tell I hit them hard. I get questions about shoulder workout a lot.

    maybe they are overdeveloped?

shoulders r worked when you do other body parts- this is without question...

I know there r other members that don't work other body parts for similar reasons. We all have parts that are stronger than others and don't need the extra work.

    I like working my shoulders..

    not overdeveloped. just well developed.

maybe im just one of those that need to work my shoulders unlike some i guess. but shoulder days are my favorite too, so im glad i have to work em.

ive been doing all the heavy compounds for shoulders plus the usual chest exercises but decided to go back to side laterals and rear laterals and just one compound, and i think its working,im beginning to shift some weight now and the added pressure from heavy military press was getting a little much with heavy bench.

I can understand maybe not working delts but my traps would never grow unless I did deads or shrugs, so I have to do movements for shoulders that is If you consider traps part of the shoulders and not back which in fact they arent IMO.
