    Standing BB Military Press

    Do you guys cheat with your legs when you do these or use strict form? I usually do 4 heavy sets of 225 for around 6-7 reps but I bounce a little bit. Sort of do the strongman style of this lift. Just curious to see if other people use this style, and also what the disadvantages are of having loose form?

    Hey it's up to you...when you cheta a lift you don't cheat anyone but yourself so lift however you feel works best. Strict for will hit the shoulders better though.

    I use strict form besides the last set or two. 4 sets Ill do one usin my legs, 5 sets I do 2 sets like that. Just on the last few reps to really push em out when my shoulders cant do it alone. DOnt cehat too much, just enough to get em up.

    Yeah, it's a legitimate exercise called a push press. Your just utilizing one muscle group to assist another and hopefully force it to grow. The only thing about them thats scary is the potential for back injury, I almost lost it one day, like 6 or 7 yrs ago w/ 225, havent done them since.

    Yeah you really have to watch your back arch when cheating a military press.

    i will do some raw presses without legs. but if i am repping out, when i hit very close to failure theres nothing like getting 3 more with just a slight nudge from your calves.
