    walking to the gym

car died a couple weeks ago and i have been walking to the gym. its about a 30min very fast paced walk and its hot as hell. by the time i get to the gym my shirt is completely soaked.

im still getting good workouts so im not too worried about it, but how detrimental is 30min medium intensity cardio preWO? i could jog it in 10-15min, would that be better or worse?

    also im bulking right now.

Just walk it....being in good cardiovascular health when bulking is good for you.

Personally, I wouldn't do cardio before a workout unless it was a 5 minute warm up to get my blood flowing.

I would imagine a light jog would do good to warm you up and get the blood flowing. However, if it is really hot out, then walking might be better, just to avoid getting overheated, which could lead to other bad shit.

If your calories are adequate.. and your work-out brief.. It shouldn't affect intensity much.

Just remember to re-hydrate upon reaching the gym. And stay adequately hydrated during the walk. Note i said walk.. not jog

If you were consuming sub-maintenance calories however.. a 30 minute brisk walk prior would be like a kick in the nuts. I know first hand. I use to walk to the gym and home from it every day in my offseason. When i started cutting (my contest prep) and dropped my calories i found that the walk prior to the gym left me drained.. tho it was not intense in the least.

Bottomline.. energy demands.. energy consumption.. these by-words must be taken into consideration in answer to your question.
