my knees hurt when i run, i get shin splints and my ankles hurt which is why i stopped running for cardio. Running on pavement puts a lot of stress on your joints. do the elliptical machine or ride a bike.
check your footwear this is very important when running and try running on softer ground (beach is my fave).some people are not suited to running so if its causing you pain id pack in and do as biglouie suggests.
ive found that i get this pain when i run on a treadmill.
however when i play soccer on af ield im fine and i dont get any pains.
So maybe it's the surface?
Run in a park then?
its def the surface, please refrain from giving me a creationist response to this but humans have not evolved to run on pavement. Why? because although some form of paved road has existed since the early roman empire degeneration of leg joints will not wittle down a species to the point where evolution dictates that only the strong survive.
the reason humans have not evolved to pavement is b/c of the different styles of foot wear that pass through each generation preventing humans from adaptin. for instance if we all work nike shox for the next 100 years then we would evolve. j/k man, screw creationism or evolution whatever you wanna call it in my opinion.
Have no idea, but for my cutting phase and those of all of my clients, RUNNING is NEVER advised.

so then elliptical or riding that bike is what is suggested??Originally Posted by SwoleCat
yup if ur not a runner you don't need to run thats how injuries happen. Swlole uses the eliptical i use the bike b/c my shin splints are bad just increase the resistance..
I agree running is not a good idea.
Are you using a Heart Rate Monitor? Should be if your not to get into your target heart range. I walk on the treadmill every morning, stretching real good helps me avoid shin splints.
what kind of shoes do you have, do you have proper foot and arch support?
In my experiances, pain due to running is most often caused by improper shoes, improper size of shoes, doesnt have proper arch support, doesnt have any arch support etc..
you could try swimming or biking
One reason it may not bother you during a soccer game is that your mind is focused on the game and you are not thinking about the pain. Whereas when you are doing cardio you have all the time in the world to think about the pain.Originally Posted by stunner5000pt
bro get some nike shocks there the bomb, also why are you running? hit the tredmill up get that heart rate at 80%
