My elbows really hurt a lot when doing certain tricep exercises.
Mainly Skullcrushers and Overhead Dumbell Extensions.
Should I just avoid these excersises or is something I can do lessen the pain.
I think my form is perfect.

In general, especially as you continue to train over long periods, your elbows are going to go through some wear and tear. Its really important to sufficiently warm up your triceps with a compound exercise, and to put extensions (be it cable or skull crushers.. etc) later in your workout. From my experiences close grip bench is probably the best overall warmup for triceps. Its an incredible mass builder and it provides you the option to go really light for large rep counts to warm up... and then again to go really heavy to really pack on inches. hope that helps
I have the same problem. can't even go heavy on skulls or over-heads. Try doing skulls with DB's. Hold them hammer style while lying on a bench. Perfrom like a skull only lets the shoulder pivot back at the bottom (like doing a pullover for back) then thrust them up. Make any sense?
i have that problem, but i can fix it by doing alot of warmups. if i were to do only a couple warmups then go heavy on tri exercise my elbows will kill. i just do alot of warmups with light weight and get blood flowing into the area and im good to go...
Elbows In!
I have the same problem with my knees and my solution is the same as yours. I do my warmup sets with really light weights to get the synovial fluids flowing and lubricating my joints.Originally Posted by TheDfromGC
doesn't make a difference for me. When you are using 130lb. DB's to do overhead presses, it all hurts.Originally Posted by Phreak101
that every now and then happens to me. it just seems to disappear on it's own
too much stress on the elbow joint
Sometimes keeping 'perfect' form is what causes elbow problems. I find that if I let my elbows drift (within reason) to a comfortable position, I can perform extensions without pain. If I really try to keep my elbows in and stationary, that's when they hurt.
