    New Ink...

I spent my 24th bday under the needle, definately the most memorable and painful birthday to date... The scroll reads 'Godspeed A Fair Wind and a Following Sea', it's an old sailor's prayer bestowed upon my wife and I by her Uncle on our wedding day, and is pretty relavant in the context that I got it to commemorate my year-long sobriety. The outline only took 3 hours, the color is going to be another 10-12. I'll be sure to update with more pics when it's all finished up, I'm going to try for two sittings. The first pic was taken right after it was done, the second a week later all healed up

thanks for the words of encouragment fellas, it really means alot. Even though I don't drink myself, I'm not one of those preachy anti-alcohol fanatics that thinks alcohol is evil and we should bring back prohibition. The thing is, not everybody has a problem with alcohol, most people can go to a bar, have 2 or 3 drinks and leave, no problem. With me, it's like after I get that first shot or beer in me the only thing that matters is where my next drink is coming from, and I keep going until I pass out, usually with half a drink still in my hand.

Looking back with a sober perspective I can see now that all of the problems in my life stem from my alcoholism (losing several jobs, relationships, my drivers lisence, etc.) because I put alcohol before everything and everybody else.

You may think I'm using alcoholism as a scapegoat for all the problems in my life, but the proof is pretty apparent. In the last year that I've been sober I got married, reconciled the severed relationships with family and friends, and graduated from school to receive my phlebotomy certification, and am on the path toward med school.

Now, instead of waking up in the morning and taking a couple shots of vodka to get going, I shoot down a dozen eggs and chase them with red bull hehe my wife thinks it's disgusting but given the alternative she would much rather be grossed out rather than waking up in the morning to find me passed out on the bathroom floor in a pool of my own vomit.

Anyway, I'll be sure to post pics after my next sitting. It's not scheduled until the end of September (that's how good this guy is, hes booked out solid for three months!) But if he has a cancellation I'm first on the list. The reason I went with this particular artist is because of his AMAZING color work, so if you think it looks sick now, just wait until he fills it in! Here's a link to his portfolio, if you're in the Phoenix area I would highly recommend him, that is if you don't mind waiting 3 or 4 months (trust me, its worth it!):
