    AM cardio and cutting

How many of you guys do AM cardio on an empty stomach? How long/how many times per wk and does it effect your strength/lifting session later on in the day?

Post this in the workout section and you probably would get better answers. I find that by doing cardio in the a.m. on an empty stomach that I always seem to be more drained and have less strength during the weight training session later in the day but that might be just due to my low calorie diet. I am interested on hearing about how a.m. cardio works for people as well.

I have been doing it for 2 weeks as part of a 6 week cut. It is working great for fat loss-no doubt. strength has gone down slightly but my intensity in my workouts is the same in the afternoon as it was before. Lots of variables there..how much sleep you got & what you at before your workout etc..mid-day I try to eat a tons of veggies with my protein to keep my stomach feeling full & give me the energy later to lift.

some people are in the opinion that am cardio with no food is good but i say why put your hard earned muscle at risk by going into a catabolic state,it may work well for some but its not the way to go.

i am currently doing 45min of morning cardio for 5days a week, coupled with a proper cutting diet. i weight has dropped but not drastically, which is what im looking for, my diet is 40/40/20 ratio for pro/carb/fat. calories are around 2300 for me at 180lbs. i think by not going extremely low in calories it has helped me drop some bf without losing excess amounts of muscle.

    Am Cardio Is great!!!

I find that I will take a protein shake with water before my cardio, and I think to avoid Catabolic state you need to do 70% max hr for 45 mins.I think if you are doing low intensity for a longer period of time I would not worrie about losing muscle but you will use fat as fule..
