Hit an Artery!!!

Damn bros the scariest sh*t ever happened to me today! I was doing one of my ED shots in my left delt and everything was going great. I always take my time going in nice and slow and I aspirate every time - sometimes I asprirate twice if I get really paranoid but today I actually aspirated 3 times! There was no blood, so I proceeded with my injection. Right as I finished I accidently let go of the syringe because my hand was a little shaky, so it was left suspended in my delt just dangling. There was no pain at all and everything was still cool so I just grabbed it and pulled out nice and slow with an alcohol pad ready to cover-up the tiny hole as usual. As soon as I pulled the pin all the way out, PSSSST!!! Blood sprayed all over my bathroom! My whole arm was covered in blood (it looked almost like I had put fake tanner on ) and my shorts and socks were covered in blood as well. It kept spraying like a super-soaker until I covered it up and applied pressure. I was like, "oh my God!!! WTF???" I was freaking out because that has never happened before.

Anyways I went and worked out afterwards and my delt is sore as sh*t now. Has this happened to anyone before? It seriously looked like a murder scene in my bathroom!

Oh, and my blood also smelled really nasty - like old pennies - is that normal?

Dude, I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you're alright. I don't think there are arteries in the delt area. I could be wrong, but maybe you just hit a major blood vessel or something. Is the area all bruised? Now you made me a skeptical on injecting into my delts! I'd give it a couple days for the pain to subside and take some ibuprofen. If it's still hurtin' bad go see a doc.

the same thing happened to me except it shot on my friend and ran down my arm, but not near as bad as yours. the smell is normal, its from the iron in your blood. although you might be taking in too much iron.

I've hit veins before in my glutes, and have had a little blood streaming down my leg before but after I put pressure on it for 15 secs, it stopped bleeding. I never heard of blood squirting out in large quantities uncontrolably like that though. Scary thought!

it feels bruised but there is no discoloration. Say I actually did hit an artery or something important - is there any potential permanent effect from that? I've always wondered like, if you cut through a vein by accident when you stab yourself what happens? Does the vein automatically heal itself or does it die or what?

yeah I know I was freaking out! During this cycle alone, I've already done over 49 injections (I'm on my 9th week of ED shots) and this has never happened to me before. I've had a little blood streaming down before but nothing like this

I lived lol... I think it was just a vein and due to some sort of pressure it caused this to happen. I am not positive that is the reason though...

I've been getting more and more blood on my glute shots. At first there was almost nothing afterwords, now its like a stream runs down after I remove the pin. Even the stream freaks me out, but a gusher.....sounds like good times.

We take blood from veins and arteries where I work at all the time. They always heal unless you're very old.

Damn thats scary. I think theres an artery that runs on under part of one of your arms..not sure which one. Thats strange..I wouldnt think there is one in your side delt

Thats hapopened to me too. Not an artery, there are no arteries high enough in the delt to hit, its just a real big vein. If it was an artery the blood would be very bright red and frothy where as a veinial blood looks like red wine and dark
