Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated!!
im no expert but i would say shoulder exercises.
From what I have been taught a punch comes from your whole body, starts at your feet. I would tend to think that Olympic lifts, Plyometrics and anything else that will help build explosiveness.
Core strength is really important too. If you watch a Mike Tyson knockout punch in slow mo you'll see his entire upper body is rotating from his waist to generate power. Momentum is mass times velocity, so it's not just the speed of the punch, but also how much of your body is behind it. I would think any exercise that gets you to rotate your trunk against resistance would be beneficial for this.
There was a video called "Power Punching" by a guy named Jerry Robinson (from health for life I think)... it was a wnderful illustration of what it takes to throw crushing punches. Find it and watch it then pick apart the movements to strengthen the the appropriate links in the kenetic chain.

A punch starts from your hips, goes through your shoulders and ends with your fists....so its mostly practice and tehnique...you have some great strehgth wxercises and videos on www.rosstraining.com

I see, so there is no 1 certain exercise specifically that will increase your punching power?
the more punches you throw the faster and harder they will be. speed equals power. boring ass exercises usually work very well. shadow boxing, 2 or 3 three minute rounds, before you hit the heavy bag is boring but effective. keep your punch count on the heavy bag high. some guys use resistance bands or the cable crossover machine to throw jabs or straight rights but, although there is resistance during the punch, you are not getting your arm back to the ready position on its own. hard work works best. good luck.
trained next to a pretty good boxer today. lots of core work and explosive power on the cables doing a wood chopping motion. also press ups using DBs and then lifting one arm at a time with DB in a press up position.
