    No.

That's the short answer. Lifting increases intraabdominal pressure and that can (er... will) make the hernia worse. The worst thing that can happen with any hernia is when a loop of bowel gets stuck in the hernia sac and becomes incarcerated/strangulated. This worst-case scenario leads to the bowel becoming ischemic and dying -- a surgical emergency that requires bowel resection and which would lay you up for months.

    Scared yet?

Don't lift until you see your friendly general surgeon.

    Jerol (surgeon, btw...)

as lomg as it doesnt cause you pain or discomfort, but i would avoid any exercises that would force you to increase pressure in your abdominal cavity. where a belt and keep it real real light, myself,if i had a hernia, i would take time off until it was fixed, maybe do some cardio and thats it, but yes,if you realy have to and you wont take the time off,it can be done if it is a necessity, but let me be clear, I DONT ADVISE IT. you can workout, just dont over do it, handle weight you can easily do while being able to hold on a conversation, and do not train to failure on any exercise

    Yep

Doc Sust is right here too, btw... Light work/cardio and no strain on the abdomen is the key until you know for sure what you're dealing with. Definitely no 5x5 stuff though, m'kay?

    Good luck!
