Total jerk at the Nutrition Store I went to today

I live pretty close to Venice Beach and there are a lot of Sports Nutrition stores so I checked one out today that I hadn't been to before. I went in just to pick up an affordable protein powder and this aggressive bastard behind the counter says "NO...no...let me design a program for you..hang on". The guy starts running all over the store grabbing bottles of aminos, digestive enzymes, egg whites, Creatine and about 5 other bottles....literally. Keep in mind that he looked like NOTHING, no muscle and I am 210 lbs and very lean yet this jerk felt the need to peddle half the damn store on me. Then he plops down two separate "testosterone boosters" , both with the exact same ingredients and finally throws down a bottle that he says will "optimize my pituitary-hypothalymus axis". Hardee-har-har. He then told me that he has "MANY" Olympia and National level competitors that exclusively use what he recommended to me. I have nothing against supplements, but I told the guy straight out that this kind of hard sell isn't for me and I left the store. I can't stand bastards like that. Most people that lift and go into a health food store have an idea of what they want and don't need some supplement pusher giving them a bunch of nonsense. And these supplement "gurus" always seem to be built like nothing. It just annoyed me. Sorry for the long note but it put a crimp in my day.

i've had this happen on more than once. what's the deal with gnc hiring only people that look like they have never seen the inside of gym? i do admit that when i started lifting and pro hormones were still legal i wasted alot of money on that crap and i've since learned better. i'm sure they are trying to unload all that garbage on ignorant customers that will try anything to improve their body.

They hire pencil necks and fatasses because they want people who can push their GNC brand bullshit. A real bodybuilder is going to tell it like it is, these losers will do wahtever to make a sale.

i didn't think of that. that would make sense that if they hired someone who has any knowledge on training, diet + nutrition and supplements and some newbie walks in asking (what should i take?) they would say go over there and get yourself some good creatine and some whey protien and don't even bother looking at all this overpriced garbage. i have never seen anyone working at gnc that would know firsthand about these supplements their pushing. i guess it's like everything in life it all comes down to money.

Exactly right. I was looking for a job at the beginning of the summer and my dad had said to me "Why don't you go to GNC or something as much as you love the gym and as dedicated as you are in healthy living?" I told him that I could never sell that crap to anyone. It's really unfortunate too. It'd be nice if one could actually go to a GNC or Nutrition Depot and get solid nutritional advice along with quality supplementation. I guess I live in a fantasy world...

I would love to you guys run a business. You goes complain how the stuff is all over priced. And it is I agree. But figure that with a person making $9 an hour in the store. So you want an educated nutritionist trainer in the store? What would they have to pay him $18. He isnt going to improve sales that much in a gnc. So they raise the already high prices even higher.

if i ran a business it would be something that i liked being involved with such as running a gym or being a personal trainer and i wouldn't sell something i know is a waste of their money. i would say i that i'd improve my sales by being honest and having a reputation as such instead of out right ripping people off.

i agree...i don't know how places like GNC stay in business....whenever i stroll in to take a peak, I'm the only customer.
Only thing I buy is there yummy a$s Bob's Red Mill Oat Bran. Believe it or not, it's way cheaper there than anywhere I've ever seen it.
