Ive been an AMD man myself, had one in my first custom rig. I got the dual core intel 2.8 a few months ago because it was such a great deal, but havent been impressed thusfar. The new Conroes are much cheaper and supposedly kick the crap out of all the AMDs out right now, except for maybe that $1k FX or whatever it is. But theres a Conroe that costs that much too, and Im sure it is much better.

Download superpi and tell me what you run at 1m. I have never been able to break 38 seconds with my 2.8 dual core. Ive seen an overclocked Conroe do it in 16, which is unreal.....

Heat is rarely an issue with OCing. Most of the time you run into a conflict between the mobo, ship, and ram or sumthin along those lines....

This should be in the computer discussion forum...

Wait, you mean there are forums dedicated to things that have nothing to do with AAS? REALLY??

(Sorry JDawg not trying to be an ass, just proving a point!)

Nothing to do with you, a couple of us are rooting for the political forum back, and the main argument against it is "this is a steroid site, only steroids should be discussed here"

    So your timing was perfect

Glad I can be of service lol. Thats always pissed me off. If you read the description of the AR Lounge, you should be able to talk about whatever you want. Political forum was cool too.

So you are laughing at me for being stupid or something? I have built and overclocked over a dozen systems in the last 7 years, and never once have I had to return one. Aftermarket heatsink and a couple good fans, Ive NEVER had an issue......

see that sounds intelligent...but obviously heat is an issue and that's why you get the aftermarket heatsink and fans... you made it sound like O/C wouldn't raise the temp at all...which as well all know... it does quite a bit.

Come on man, you say you been overclocking for years and you say heat is never an issues. Where do you live Alaska ?

Heat is the number one cause of buring out your computer. Well that is of course if you are overclocking the chip more then .5Mhz .
