no sound

i have a Dell comp

i got a virus and reinstalled the OS Windows XP.

now when i am in windows control panel / sound audio devices / no audio device

everything is grayed out as if the sound card not being detected

where is sound card located inside the PC box maybe i can pop it out and back in again since that what i has to do multiple times when installing a wireless internet card along with drivers

could it be that i need drivers for the sound card also?

sound worked fine prior to me re-installing Widows XP

i do not, but will call Dell tomorrow and see if they can get me to a website to obtain the drivers.

Depends on your PC dude, most of them are actually built into the motherboards these days and arnt seperate. You will have to uope the case and look at each card thats plugged in to see if its a seperate one. It will have external jacks on it for speakers and mic
