    Healthy Snacks

    I need thoughts on 2 things

    1. What are some good overall healthy snacks? Not for cutting or bulking, but just overall healthly. Examples, fruits, beef jerky, peanuts, and such.

    2. What are some good easy quick meals, like when I get home from school and need to eat. Maybe a frozen meal? Like lean cusisne or such.

    Healthy snacks...yes, nuts, fruit is great.
    frozen meal? lol, no thanks, unless you mind putting fat on. Make your own meals. If your in a BIG rush, 1cup oats/2 scoops whey. I can down a can of tuna with f/f cc and 1 cup oats in about 2 min. though. There is really no excuse not to eat whole food/make your own meals.

    whats cheap and easy to make and taste good?

    besides fish, not a big fish fan.

    Ground turkey, chicken + beef.
    Whole wheat bagels
    whole wheat Pasta
    Brown Rice
    Hard-boiled eggs
    F/F cottage cheese
    skim milk
    Peanuts, sunflower seeds, flax oil

    Many many choices.. these can all be used as snacks and/or meals depending on portion sizes. Don't forget Twinkies

    whats really wronge with frozen meals? lean gourmets are fairly healthy. 260 cals, 8 gs fat. its not a bodybuilder meal but its not bad. some have low sodium also. they only cost 98cents! lean pockets also. 2 for $1.98

    thats what Im saying. Im not looking into a crazy hardcore diet, but just overall not bad for you.

    something quick i can whip up or throw in the oven ya know.

    i need snacks for college, I get so hungry...bought some beef jerky and bananas for class

    I think Wednesday is 39cent cheeseburgers? lol

    Try wheat thins, Granola, fruit, MRP's, protein bars.. These will do for the average joe.

    No dude, wednesdays are the double bacon cheeseburgers with extra fries and an x-large coke.

    I personally like protein pudding

    get the instant stuff, sugarfree, the one that doesnt involve cooking add two scoops of protein, and add milk as per the directions, cool for like 5 mins and you are good to go.

    The toughest part, as I'm sure you realize, is the protein. The carbs and fats are pretty easy (fruit and nuts/seeds).

    Smoked salmon. Beef/turkey jerky. Sardines, kippers.

    Pre-made protein powder + berry + oil of choice smoothie.

    Organic Food Bars.

    What about Harvest Sun Chips?

    those seem to be a nice healthy snack right?

    with other vitmains and good stuff....doesnt seem too bad.

    like everyone else has said nuts and fruits are great For protein you can munch down some low-medium fat cheese.

    As a easy meal chicken sallads rocks. Easy, tasty, lean and cheap.

    "Healthy" as pertaining to what? There so many different food options, what you put down your intake tube is totally dependent on the goal at hand. For instance, I find eating a few almonds during a CKD, not only helps with satiety, but also helps with further bodyfat loss...

    Nope

    A 5% low fat cheese I eat sometimes has 32% protein. So over 6 times as much protein as fat and it still taste cheesy If it wasnt so expensive I would eat it day and night. I mean heck its leaner then most cuts of meat and more protein than tuna.

    Cheese is usualy around 30% protein so even cheese with 20% fat or above is decent protein sources.

    However, I do admit I'm somewhat bias when its comes to cheese, milk, and whey as I'm lactose intolerant (one of many).

    I'm 100% dairy free now and can tell a big difference. Feel lighter, digestion seems to work better. I noticed a very real bloated feeling if I eat dairy products now. I cut it out somewhat slowly until I was down to only milk in coffee and whatever was in the protein powder but finally eliminated those sources as well. Don't miss or crave it at all now.

    Also, I personally believe that cheese, milk and I assume all other lactose products give me acne. Wheat products and peanuts do the same. I finally achieved some measure of control over my acne by changing my diet over the last 18 months (eliminating the above foods).

    As always and with all this stuff keep an open-mind and YMMV!

    cheese is practicly lactose free and practicly zero in carbs aswell so any insulin response will only be caused by the protein..Usualy lactose intolerant people can eat cheese without any problem at all. I think the longer the cheese has been stored the less lactose they contain. Dont quote me on that though

    Yes...I think it is the protien portion that also causes the insulin spike.

    Now this is not a completely unheard of thing. High Lysene content proteins like beef can elicit a pretty good insulin release but it also produces a fair glucagon release. These hormones are counterregulatory and I suspect the release of glucagon prevents, at least to some degree, the down regulation of the insulin receptor and the subsequent insulin resistance.

    The dairy/insulin thing makes sense in that insulin is a potent growth promoter and most mamals only consume milk during the earliest stages of life.

    At any rate (I know I sound like a broken record by now lol), BUT if it works for you go for it. Some people see negative effects from eating dairy, some see positive. For me...its all negative
