So, since I was bored with absolutely nothing to do... I download the BETA of Vista Ultimate 64 Bit Edition. After downloading 5 GB of iso image, and going thru all the crap to install this "new and upcoming top of the line" operating system, I finally got it all set up. Keep in mind I had to reformat my hard drive and delete everything that was on my computer. Well...

VISTA SUCKS ASS

I'm sooooooo pissed. First off, it looks like crap. It's hard to understand, use, and it's a cheap knock off of Mac OS X. Then, NONE of my porn works. Seriously. 350 GB of DVD quality porn that I've downloaded over 3 years time simply doesn't work. Then, to top it off, half the drivers I need for my laptop to work with all it's OEM functionality just don't exsist for Vista.

Now, I gotta start all over. Hopefully, the partition with the original OEM Windows XP Pro still works to reload the old OS. I'll never buy a computer with Windows Vista. NEVER ! This OS Sucks Ass !

No no no It's the "release candidate." It's not BETA. I actually have the pre-release. It's as bug free as it'll get before the final release. It still sucks. The interface is HORRIBLE! It's still kinda like Win XP, but now you gotta do double the work to get to the same place. For instance, Control panel is just a bitch to find. Then, try finding your hard drive. ROFL!

p.s...NEVER make just 1 giant partition... it's just plain stupid. system should be partitioned away from any other data. I'mt not trying to talk down...but it's alot better than xp which was just written on top of 2000 code...If youa re tyring to use allt he bs shadowing and all that other stuff...it might be having bugs...but then again i am not using the 64 bit version...any tech will tell you to hold off on that shit :P

oh yah and one more thing...if it is partitioned seperate and you meant you had to reformat your system partition and now all your porn doesn't work which was on another partition...well you should know that it doesn't affect your other files at all...so more than likely you havne't installed a media player component or some of your porn is divx and you don't have the proper codec.

Windows 2000 is more stable then XP. XP 32-bit is a failure OS. XP 64-bit which was written on the Server 2003 code though is great. Vista R1 so far has been operating fine for me.

I totally agree. Some of us (like me) use a PC at work and then there are a few who use Macs. The Macs are incredible. I'm so envious of my Mac coworkers. It's as big a difference as driving a Pinto and a Ferrari. Both cars will get you there but oh, what a difference in the ride!

I totally agree. Some of us (like me) use a PC at work and then there are a few who use Macs. The Macs are incredible. I'm so envious of my Mac coworkers. It's as big a difference as driving a Pinto and a Ferrari. Both cars will get you there but oh, what a difference in the ride!

I have a Macbook Pro. I use that more than anything. The laptop I installed vista on is a HP with an AMD Turion64 processor. I use that for just random BS but I usually just use the Mac. i can't wait for the new release of OS X though

The computer I installed it on I really don't use much, so I didn't care. It's just all the work I did to install it and then to see Vista is total shit is what pisses me off. I did however make a shadow copy of the original disc image. I just hate having to reload it all and back up again.

What version of Vista are you running? 64 bit? If not, then Vista is technically pointless. Vista should be the next gen of 64 bit OS. Especially with all the Dual Core processors out there. Who would want to upgrade an old 32 Bit to Vista? Wasn't the original point of Vista to get everything on 64 bit? Prior to this "downgrade" to Vista, I was was running XP 64. It was pretty good actually.

All in all, OS X still smokes Windows hands down. Vista is Microsoft's lame attempt to go after the things that makes a Mac a Mac. Right down to the "dashboard" is just plain lame on Microsoft. Could the knock off be more obvious?

True, but some of us have no choice but to use a Windows machine. I'm an electrical engineer, and I have no choice but to use a Windows machine because my design software isn't available for Mac. I use PCAD and ORCAD at work. Both of those programs are over $10K each. Well, if and when they release a Mac version, my employer isn't gonna spring $10K per application to make me happy so I can run on Mac. So, we're officially stuck on stupid in that aspect.

But, at home, it's Mac forever.

No, the porn is ok. The computer don't play it though. It has something to do with encoding. My other computer still plays it fine. I have all my porn stored on external drives for a reason

I know, but the software isn't stable for big memory programs like PCAD or ORCAD. There is too much emulation going on in the bacround for real time rendering of graphics.

I'm not a fan of Vista. I'll stick with XP for now, and hopefully they can come out with a better OS. I'm not a fan of Macs. I hated those Mac Classic and Mac Plus computers that I had to use in school. It's created a scar, and I can't stand using Macs again.

Plus Windows games > Mac games.
