Skeletal Muscle are bound together to for skelatal muscle, which attach to bones across one or more joints. This is the only type of muscle that is under voluntary control, and causes movement at the joints, therefore movement of the body.
Skeletal muscle is composed of slow twich (type 1) muscle fibers, or slow-oxidative fibers, and are special because of their high mitochondria content and high aerobic capabilty.
Fast twitch (type 2) fibers are referred to as "fast oxidative", and all though they do have oxidative properties, they dont have the endurance or aerobic capability of slow twitch fibers.
If you want to know more I suggest you go out and buy a book on neuromusclular anatomy and physiology.
