why do you feel that way about him? i hope it was something he actually did that you feel was wrong and hurtful to people. if it is i would like to know what it was because he always seemed like a really good and compasionate guy to me. i hope you dont just dislike him because he chose a dangerous job. he obviously loved animals and taught us a lot about them in a fun way.

i mean soldiers, firefighters, cops, and many many other jobs are dangerous too, so what is your reasoning for not liking him.

No sympathy?? It's a job..he died doing it..
Go ahead and say he got what he deserved...it was his job..dedication.
Not the same thing as selling chicken nuggets...

  6. #6
No sympathy? Just because he was a daredevil around animals? He loved animals and didnt have the same fear around potentially dangerous ones everyone else did. He saw them all as beautiful creatures of nature. He loved what he did and died doing it..

Also..I cant really tell anything from those pics..

yea, working at GNC is a much more respectable job. but you need to realize that some people just dont have what it takes to be a clerk at GNC so they have to resort to meaningless jobs like spending their entire life studying and helping animals.

So soldiers in Iraq and Afganhistan are "dumbasses" because they swim with "sharks and stingrays?"

It was a job and he was good at it..think about it..

I saw those pictures on the front of one of those "Enquirer" magazines.. full of shat!
So im not sure if those are even real.
And from what i heard, the camera man was under or infront of the stingray which made it feel trapped in/threatened.. so who knows...

It still sucks he is gone. He was a great guy. Nobody that I heard of had any probs with him.

It is a matter of him doing what he loved. But there is a difference in a solider in Iraq and a guy who puts himself next to deadly animals everyday.
The way I see it, this guy has 3 kids at home (I think?) and now those 3 children are father-less because their dad decided to swim next to DEADLY STINGRAYS! If he had to go to Iraq for example, he would die serving his country and something worth fighting for. But now he died to what, get a picture close to a stingray for a TV show and left his children without a father?

It's not a matter of me not liking the guy, I never watched his how nor cared for it.
But would you feel sympothy for a person who dies from lung cancer after smoking for 20 years?

if the smoker was a really good person who helped his fellow humans out then yea, i probably would feel a little sympathy for him even though it was his decisions that led to his death.

didnt mean to jump all over you, but if you dont dislike him for any reason it just seems disrespectful to start a thread and publicly state that he is an idiot and you have no sympathy for him when he just died recently, thats all.

The odds of being killed by a stingray the way he was are about four billion to one.

I think its a tragedy that we have lost a man who had such great passion for helping wildlife around the world.

+1. Whether you liked the guy or not you should show him respect. He did so much for animals during his life and was a good person. RIP

I'm not pissing on his grave by any means. I just think it's a more of a fact that people are 'surprised' he died. He was putting his hands in croccidiles mouths for christs sake

I think people were moreso surprised by the way which he died. he handled crocs his entire life and died because a stingray barb pierced his heart. that's like being a daredevil stuntman your entire life and meeting your end by slipping on the sidewalk and hitting your head.

you gadda love someone that turns their passion into their profession..I think that should be something we all strive for. He loved animals, lived animals & died by the animals...its a shame that he had to go that way.personally- I admired him for doing something he loved...not many of us can say that. we just stay stuck in shitty jobs/bitchin & monaing about it. not him...he was passionate. I feel bad for his wife & kids.

The man died doing what he loved. Sure he acted wacky on his programs, but he was genuinely passionate about animals. Rest in peace Steve Irwin!!

Exactly, the ignorance of the thread starter on this kind of subject is what leads to his opinion and has gotten this thread fired up.

He did what he loved and he educated millions of people, what have you done? Drove your silly Mustang really fast trying to impress 16 year old chicks with lumps for tits?
