    Hernia Question

I just saw someone else had somewhat of the same thread, so i didn't want to hijack it with my problems. I am in week 7 of my 20 week cycle. I am definitely not going to stop my cycle, but I have hernia that is right above my bellybutton. The Doc, stated that its my small intestines pocking through my a**ominal wall. I can feel it during my shoulder and back exercises. It's just shape pains every once and awhile. It hasn't really effected any of my lifts, just somewhat uncomfortable. Any idea how this surgery will affect my lifting and how long will I be out?

Mine was umbilicle and small. I was out of the gym 2 days and started cardio again on the third. I started light weights after two weeks and now am back to about 80% after a month but really just started back on my normal routine on Wednesday. I think mine is an unsusal case.

I also had what appeared to be a midline hernia but the surgeon said, no it is muscle weakness... so it didn't get fixed... kaiser you know!

Anyway, it depends on how invasive the surgery is but I had no restrictions after a month.

That is definitely good to know. I was worried about being out of the gym, but I can deal with acouple days. I have been hitting it extra hard and heavy, due to knowing that I will have to work about lighter after the surgery.

That was two days before cardio and light weights - not stressing the a**ominals!

Just don't push too hard too fast.

Hernias will keep you out a while. I had 2 down in 99 and had pain for about 1 year. You wont feel like much lifting for about a month. Its tough for active adults. Put it off as long as possible.

I had Inguinal Hernia surgery in February and was told not to lift for 6 weeks. I felt decent after a week and lifted lightly starting 2 weeks after surgery which was probably dumb but I couldnt stay out of the gym. The a**ominals are tough because you squeeze them in a lot of lifts and want to keep them as stress free as possible when you are recovering from the surgery.

It sounds like I might want to hold off for awhile on the surgery. I am now in week 8 of my cycle. I can afford to much time out of the gym. Thanks
