I want to understand the use of various foods to slow and speed up digestion. I've read about taking in fat before bed to slow digestion, and I want a better understanding on this. Also, the use oils through out the day and why this is important.
I usually get to the gym aprox. 2 hours from waking up, so this has me a bit confused as to how much I should eat before I go.
This is what I will be attempting to do:

meal 1- 1/2 cup oats, 4 egg whites, protein shake
meal 2- PWO Protein shake with simple carbs
meal 3- chicken with rice
meal 4- Not sure if I need more complex carbs or just a protein source.. Help wanted.. Protein shake maybe?
meal 5- steak or chicken (again, do I need more carbs at this time?)
meal 6- bedtime meal- not sure what exactly I need to slow digestion for this meal. I have just been drinking a protein shake before bed, but just recently learned that it digests too quickly to be effective for the length of time I am asleep. Also, once I get all the foods for each meal set in stone, I can get all of the caloric, fat, carb, and protein numbers together.. Thanks
