Every day and every other day

This might seem to be a stupid question to most, but I have asked a few, and not everybody knows:

When refering to "every day" it's obvious - day after day after day. But what is meant by "every other day"?

Every other day=eod=Take it on first day skip a day take it the next day and so on and so fourth.....

EOD example-I take prop on mon,wed,fri,sun and so fourth......
