    Doom

I saw this movie today and I have to say I dont understand why it has been ripped to shredz. It was pure enjoyable mindless action!!

Sure it didnt realy have the same story as the DOOM game, but **** did anyone care about the story in those games? I cared about it just about as much as I care about the story in a porn flick.

Its kind of similar to aliens, not as good though but worth to watch.

First half they are running around finding a few corpses and not understanding what happens, then its all action from there, loads of weapons, some heads beeing ripped of, the usual for a monster action horror flick

It wasn't bad. My only complaint is that it didn't follow the games storyline.

    They wimped it out.

I don't even recall the game Doom even having a story line. You just go around shooting things.

the movie was TERRIBLE! I was extremely disappointed. The Doom 3 game was freaking AMAZING - awesome story, awesome characters - unbelievably good. The story in the movie was awful, instead of demons it was just a genetic mutation and on top of that the "mutations" looked like guys in rubber suits.

The film was based on DOOM 3 which is nothing at all like Doom 1 or 2 WHICH i still maintain were far superior games to DOOM 3.

    Still...is it a good film?

what?? how can you say 1 and 2 were better than 3? Doom 3 is quite possibly one of the best games ever made!

I remember my dad introducing me to Doom when I was like 5 or 6, lol. The movie was decent, if you take away the cheesy lines, "Semper Fi Mother ****er!" But yeh, the 1st person mode was freakin' awesome. And I wish the Rock didn't have to turn out to be a bad guy.

How do you have the movie Doom without the pentagrams, inverted crosses and that big bitch of a devil? It'd be like Seabiscuit without horses or Finding Nemo without fish.

The primary difference between the game and the film lies in where the monsters come from... and that's a big difference.

From those shots the game looks pretty good.

I personally liked the doom movie. Not exactly intellectually stimulating but a good mindless killing movie.

Easily cause im a die hard Doom fan. Yes Doom 3 is excellent graphically and technically but it doesn't have the same fear level and intensity as the first two. I mean, there'd be rooms where there's 50 imps running at you and the only gun available is right in the middle. And the puzzle elements were much better. More scares, more violence, more action.

Agreed. I had a NES growing up, then I got SNES, and I thought that was the shizbomb. Then my buddy showed me Doom on his old 486 DX/2 and I about sh!t my 12 year old pants. Great memories of that game.

freaking exactly. you are a lone marine, IN HELL, fighting to stop the infestation of demons before mankind is ransacked and destroyed. you start off in the U.A.C. and move from earth to hell through all in betweens...

    not in the movie.

lol it scared me too back when it first came out... it's crazy though my little 8 year old brother is playing Doom 3 and it doesn't even phase him. He's never even heard of Doom 1 or 2

Don't worry, the movie is so predictable, you would have figured that out within the first few minutes.

    Doom game > Doom movie

Still was kinda fun to watch though. I might have to watch it again soon.

The music for the first two Doom games was classic as well, as were the sound effects. Doom 64 was also suprisingly very good! Ahh the days of retro gaming!
